• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Are Multi-Tools a waste?

The only parts of a multi tool that I ever used in the woods are the blade, awl and saw.

Jeff

Same here. Which is why I switched over to carrying a Woodsman SAK from Scibeer. Alox scales, main blade, woodsaw, and awl. Nothing else. When headed to the woods I might also carry a Fireman or two handed Trekker, or my Safari Pathfinder 108mm, but I rarely carry a MT.

Most of the time, my MT sees use around the house or at work. I do carry one in CERT/ARES bag.

How about this Carvin Jack from Flexcut - might have to try one out for woods/camp utensil making and whittling:

# The Carvin' Jack features six tools: 3/4" #7 sweep knife blade; 3/8" #6 scorp; 3/8" #11 gouge; 3/8" #1 straight chisel; 1-3/8" detail carving knife; 1/4" 70º V scorp.

# All tools securely lock in both opened and closed positions.

# Conveniently sized at only 4-1/4" long, 15/16" tall, and 5/8" thick when closed, about the same size as a large pocket knife.

I do get lot of use out of my Skele:

Looking at that thing makes me want to go camping, sit by a pond in the sun and spend the days carving and whittling.

I've never carved anything, but I now know it's VERY easy. I have a friend who is an excellent wood carver. He once carved me a beautiful moose. I told him it must have been extremely difficult to carve a subject like that. He said it's easy, you just take a big block of wood and cut away everything that doesn't look like a moose. I had no idea carving was that simple! ;) I may have to try it sometime....

Stay sharp,

pricey, but one hell of a multitool. I'd need lefty of course. I think I'm gonna go make me a batch of whittlin knifes this week, yall.
