I am to the world of Axis locks. I have two new BMs with these locks. When I close the knife the blade takes a little force to close on the 710. The Barrage my got me this week. It takes a lot of pressure to close. Both knives have been lubes with Blue Lube and Mil Tec. If was a linerlock I would just adjust the pivot. Both blades are nicely centered.

Ideas?

Don't panic, it's normal. They need to be broken in. If it bothers you that much, call customer service.and explain your concerns. I'm sure thay can put your mind at ease.

As already mentioned, the 710 prolly just needs to be broken in. I had a 14210 once that always was a tad stiff to close. That was OK, though, I like'em that way. The Barrage is an A/O IIRC. There will always be a bit more resistance closing an AO than closing a manual folder.

My BM 940 is so smooth that I don't remember that it was ever any other way, but this post reminded me that when I first bought it, I put polishing toothpaste (the gritty type) in the mechanism to help smooth everything out. That's an old gun "fable" on how to smooth your bolt actions, don't know if it helped, or if just repetition helped make everything nice.

Also keep in mind, this "tension" that you experience can be adjusted via the pivot screw. You already knew this though.
