Are Opinels Addictive?

Just wait you'll see; I know must prefer to convex them but I put regualer edges on mine and they're so easy to maintain!

My Grandfather carried a #7 as long as I could remember and so did my Dad. I don't remember what age I was when my Dad gave me a #7. I was pretty young. I didn't really appreciate it for what it was at that point. I was carrying other knives that were "flashier".
A couple of years ago I came across it and having carried and used knives for years at that point I actually looked at it through different eyes so to say. I have that one set back because it was a gift from my father. I have however purchased several more in varying sizes. I carry a #6 regularly in my back pocket along with whatever clip folder I have in my front pocket. They can be addictive since I found the different wood handles and in the last few days ordered several #8s in oak and walnut and just moments ago clicked "place order" on #6s in oak, walnut and olive wood. I spent on several knives about what I would spend on one higher end Benchmade or Spyderco.
Do I collect? One might think so. But they're going into various bags and a couple are going to be gifts. So yeah, if you like them they can multiply. :)

I am not sure if they'rer addictive per say but they seem to breed in my place like rabbits though... ;) I began with 2 and now I have 8... I am sure they will continue multiplying this year though...

I like the # 9. It rides very nicely along side my wallet in my back pocket.

After many years, decades, of carrying an Opinel I've only recently discovered them to be addictive for collecting.

Start off with a user or two... then a gift set of ten. Then a drop point Garden Knife. Of course I wanted, and bought, a #13 as soon as that youtube chopping video was shown. Then I learned about the 1890 Replica. And why not get one or two in the different wood handles?

:)
