Are prices too high on the 560CBCF -- or would you pay even more?

With the gracious help of a really nice forumite, I found one for $305, shipped. This was just as prices were starting to skyrocket. The lowest other price I found at the time was $350.

I am surprised I paid as much as I did. Before the limited edition model was issued, I wasn't sure I would buy one at the original $280 street price.

As nice as these beauties are, I don't think I would pay the higher prices they are commanding now. To me, they seem like Hinderer-style inflated prices. (I don't begrudge the dealers their profit; I just don't have that kind of $$. Obviously, YMMV.)

Congratulations to KAI for a job well-done: F&F on mine is just about perfect. It opens and closes even more smoothly than my regular 560 and 561. The CF is smooth and beautiful. And the jimping is easier on my hand than on the regular models.

Nits? I don't care for the zig-zag aesthetics of the hybrid blade and I really don't understand why it's bead blasted instead of stonewashed. That's it.

So is the price too high -- or would you pay even more, if you could find one?

It really seems that the dealers were able to find the price ceiling at around 400$. I got mine at about 350$ and am really happy with it.

By the time I have the money to get one, I'll probably have to pay those ridiculous prices.

Its supply and demand, simple economics. If I had disposable income, hell yeah. I don't so no go. $300 and change, I would find a way to get one. Current prices, no thanks

Bead blasted? No thanks. I love Kershaw stone washing but their bead blasting causes little rust spots. I won't be getting one then.

It was a bad move, IMO, and makes no sense in an otherwise top-quality folder.

Someone needs to go into the CBCF stone-washing business.

would not have looked nearly as cool as it does now, some of you guys should just start making your own knives, that way you can have them just the way you like and them you would not have to complain about them.

I think its a great looking knife. I like my plain 560 a lot but don't feel the need to jump into the CBCF right now. I think down the road ill probably run into a decent deal on one and pick it up then or maybe I wont doesn't matter. I'm much more interested in the 801 and pre ordered that one. The way things went with the 0777 and the 0560CBCF I don't hold any hope of getting into either 0888's. That's fine there is plenty of other stuff to spend my money on lol.

Ya its worth the price. Its been said a few times now, S110V, machined CF Scale, super detailed Ti for $100-$150 more than a regular 0560. I would have paid more for it if I had to. I love the knife, feels amazing in the hand, super smooth. Its a beautiful chuck of Steel/Ti/CF. Prices will probably start heading up hill pretty soon since all of them have shipped and the supply is whats currently for sale.

Bead blasting isn't really a deal breaker but I like how well stone washes hide wear.

The whole rusting thing doesn't really apply to anyone who uses or takes care of their knives.

$350 seems like a fair price to me, I won't pay $400+ though.

From comparing the prototype photos to the shipped stuff i would guess that the bead blasting may have been chosen to better contrast the metals. Atleast that is something it seems to accomplish.

Ah, an interesting thought.
