Are the bolsters on 110s cut at a slight angle?

Sorry, just peeking in here.

Windancer, are you trying to replace the scales and you want them to match up? If so, I'd recommend the eyeball method - the angle guides on most sanders and such aren't scientific instruments, I wouldn't trust them. Just make your scale grossly oversized, cut an angle with good flat-sanding surface (like a disc sander) and then lay the scale and the knife flat down side by side and decide how to adjust. Hopefully you'll get just the right angle before your scale is not oversized anymore. Hey, it's worked for me.

OK, I'll go mind my own business now...

I knew my question wasn't clear from the first response. I apologize for the confusion.

Are the inside edges of the bolsters (on Buck 110s)cut at an angle [I think this is refered to as 'dovetailing']to the liners to help hold the scales in place?

It seems as though as soon as I get scales to just barely fit into the space on the liners, they are sloppy. I cannot tell with these old eyes, but though maybe that the bolsters being angled a little was what was causing the problem?

Thanks

I was talking about dovetailing, actually. When I say to lay the knife and your scales side-by side and see if the angles match, I mean when looking from the side. I've had a lot better luck eyeballing fits than I have setting my equipment to a measured angle.

I dunno, just spotted this and hoped I could help. Sorry if I'm only muddying the waters.
