Only you can decide. For many, the appeal of the same model with different blade steel, handles and colors is too much to resist. I've succumbed to this myself. But you're essentially correct, it's still the same basic knife and will perform in much the same manner. It's more of a collector thing.

Yep. Pretty much. I still prefer my Elmax Para 2 to the s30v versions. And lots balk at the bento box shop price, but I do love it so!
