Are the Sebenza Micarta Inlay worth it?

If your already spending the money to get a sebenza is the price that big a deal? I say get what you like.

You started your thread in the wrong place. Even still, it is nice to have you here in the Community Center Forum. I have only one Sebenza and it is a small plain Classic. I have always wished that I had purchased a micarta version instead, but I still love my little knife. If I had to do it over again, I would buy the micarta instead. Hope this helps. :)

Absolutely. I love both of my micartas. I can't imagine not having......unless it was CF:)

Its all preference but like DcL said above, price really isn't a concern when you decide to buy a CRK. Your already spending 400+ on a knife so why not spend a little more for something if you really want it. I went for the small 21 as my first crk and I wish I had bought the small micarta. I guess I always want what I dont have :D Go for the gusto and get your favorite right off the bat. If you dont like it sell it and get back pretty much what you put in it.

Yes, most definitely worth it. It's durable, grippy, and looks very cool as an inlay. My second favourote inlay, I'd love for a LE sized inlay to be offered.

Personal opinion, inlays on a sebenza make a great knife amazing.

The inlays on the sebenzas are asthetically amazing and the micarta does make it more grippy. I have noticed on my small sebenza 21 with micarta that the added thickness of the scales near the thumbstud may contribute to it being a little harder to get my thumb behind the thumbstud to open it. I don't have a 21 without inlays to compare it to but I suspect it would be easier to open without the inlays. Maybe someone with both can comment on this. I have seen comments that the 21 gives you more space to open over the regular sebenza but I feel the space is in the wrong place for me. I much prefer the regular design in part for this reason.

In my opinion, it seems the micarta inlay adds a bit of tactical flare/feel to the knife and width.
Without the inlay the width is a bit more streamline and perhaps desired in dress slacks.

As for the "worth" it question. Perhaps buying on the used marketplace would help off-set the increase in price.

I have it, love it, and carry it everyday. What's really neat about the black canvas micarta is that it looks almost OD green when dry and turns jet black when wet. It adds a nice padding/thickness to the palm that the plain Sebenza doesn't have. It's all personal preference. I used to prefer the plain Sebenza but that was because I had never held one with inlays. Now I can't picture it without them...unless it was a Large Regular like the one in lisantica's collection :D

Yes. It is my favorite Sebenza by far. The micarta feels good in the hand-fills out the hand. It has some texture so it is grippier dry and the fibers swell when wet so it gets even grippier when wet. It really makes a nice knife.

Don't ask me. I paid about 100 bucks extra for some graphics, which add nothing to the performance of the knife, yet I feel it was worth it.

I got rid of my micarta inlay sebenza to fund my micarta inlay insingo that should be done hopefully soon. I love the inlays.

one is on my list to get, when that is, i don't know. but the forums are a great place to get a second hand one, and i'll more than likely be just like new.

I'd have to say it depends...if you mean "worth it" in respect to the fact that they are extremely over priced (considering what they should MSRP at) on ebay etc...then NO, I'd say that the overpricing is due to the fact that the Micarta's seem to be short in supply and highly in demand at the moment. In respect to what Chris Reeve charges in mark up for inlays...then YES, I think inlays add a lot to the knife...grip, appearance, value, etc...., whether micarta, or wood.... ( i went for wood ) ;)
