Are the Sebenza Micarta Inlay worth it?

Inlays or not probably has as much to do with hand size as with personal preference. I have both a plain and an inlay small sebbie. My preference is for the plain sebbie as it fits better in my hand and in my pocket.

No they're not worth it, they're way over-price...yes, they're worth it, they're superbly functional...and btw/fwiw/ihmo they're not at all "tactical." Not black enough. ;)

Yes worth it. Especially in winter time I prefer an inlay version and I have no second thoughts about using it.
Hope this helps.

Having the Micarta in the handles makes me want to use it more. When I had a plain Sebenza, I didn't want to use it because I didn't want to scuff up the Ti. But because the micarta is what usually touches whatever surface, whether in your pocket or whatever, you're not as weary about your Ti scales getting scratched. At least I wasn't. It's still going to get scratched, but because the micarta is there, it just doesn't seem like as big of a deal.

Feel wise, I think that the micarta gives a great and substantial grip and is just overall more comfortable. I agree with Lisa, if you can get it on the used market, it's great. I replaced both my plain large and smalls with micarta large and smalls. As a personal taste, I wish they came with the blue hardware as opposed to the silver.

Well worth it in my opinion.
The added bonus of silver hardware (i don't like blue) is just another reason to pull the trigger on micarta.

I'd say they are worth it. I went with a plain large 21 for starters though cause I wanted to start at the bottom and work my way up. I can't wait for my Large Micarta Insingo to be ready cause that thing will be a work horse!

I would say they are worth it for reasons outlined in previous posts.

Well worth the small difference in price IMO.

I really love micarta, and when I first saw the pic in Blade magazine in 05 I knew I had to have one. I bought the first small micarta sold at the 05 Blade Show debut, and soon after ordered the large to go along with it.

I think they look awesome. That being said, I still want to get a plain large lefty. I like how the ti gets all scuffed up when you end up using it for a long time. :)

Great post! I'm considering my first seb, but have never got to hold one. Does anybody have both the plain and micarta small sebenza 21's? If so, any chance you could measure the difference in the width? Or the difference between the plain and any inlay would be helpful.

I'm trying to decide between the more discrete and narrower carry of the plain, with the extra grip (and good looks) of the micarta.

i would love to get my hands on a small micarta!!been waiting and waiting for the smalls to hit...hopefully it want be much longer. PLEASE CRK!!

I am looking at getting a Sebenza and I was wondering if the Micarta inlay option was worth the price.

Impossible question to answer, totally subjective:confused:

Is it worth the $$ to get extra cheese on your pizza? If that's what you want then your answer is : Yes
If not: No

Well I think it is up to you and what you like, but as some have said you are already
spending $400+.....and it does add grip and looks good....so what is a few more $$$

I would say go for the Micarta and never look back.

I thought I was going to avoid the CRK craze, I always figured it was just another knife that had its cult like loyalist, but recently I gave in and decided I would find out for myself what the Sebenza was all about. I ordered a Large Micarta 21 with a Tanto Blade and Small Micarta 21 with a Insingo Blade with full intention to check them out and resell them. All I can say is that for the last two months the Small Micarta has not left my pocket and I can not imagine selling either. There is just something about the simplicity, the quality, the robustness and overall great feel that makes this such an incredible blade. Can't wait to get my hands on a Micarta 25.
