Are there ANY Black Knife Knuts?

Yog, if ya never thought about it... I can't honestly say if that's good or bad. I dunno.

I think it's a good thing :D
It's one of the best aspects of the internet, unless you post a picture of yourself people know nothing about you apart from the opinions you post. If people treat you like a jackass you know it's not influenced by the colour of your skin, your gender or your religious beliefs, it's purly because people believe your a jackass :D

I know this is a good natured post, and I feel the same way, but for arguments sake, you wonder if it is wrong that I've never thought about it, but isn't it more wrong to actually wonder about it and want to catagarise other formites ? ;)
I know I'd be slightly parinoid if somebody posted "I wonder how many white, fat, bi-spectacled, Cornishmen we have here ?" :D :D :D

Korean  I thought you were Sumerian! :p

Of course, it's hard to tell color, ethnicity, religion on the internet, unless the contributer is willing to put that in a profile or refer to it in a discussion. I continually come across references to knife knuts being Oriental, which I would never have guessed about them if they didn't say so.

I used to be a Postal Service supervisor. One day a customer called with a complaint. She told me that an Oriental gentleman had just delivered her mail. I asked what the problem was. She asked me why we were hiring Orientals when Americans were out of work. I told her that she had just insulted me personally, since I was Oriental, and I hung up. I laughed and told my manager about it, which he thought was funny, both of us being Jewish. (Well, Israel is in Western Asia, after all, not Antarctica or whatever, right?)

Never miss an opportunity to zap a bigot. :D

Good question, and taken as you meant it, merely a point of interest. J.D.Smith makes some beautiful damascus, and is a superb craftsman, as many of you all ready know.
Gollnick all ready beat me to the smart aleck picture, and his knife is a lot better than mine. I do have a small proto of one of the SEAL black knives somewhere.
Could this be moved to Knives, News, and Your Views? No reason, it's just that it's my view that we need some views over there.
Once again, it's a perfectly valid question. On the plus side, we don't know each other's ethnicity, which just goes to show you how insignificant it is, when one ignores such things, and simply speaks to another person.

Amen.

I have a mousepad that has a picture of a dog sitting at a computer, paw on the mouse and everything. The caption reads, "On the internet, nobody knows you're a Springer Spaniel."

This reduction of people to just knowledge, ideas, opionions, and humor, may be one of the internet's great contributions to mankind.

Think of the possibilities when people are interacting at peak performance

only black full-on knife nut I've met was a salesman at Corrado Cutlery in Chicago, until they closed last year. I think he browses the forums a bit but isn't a member. In school my black friends definitely dug my knives, but didn't buy any for themselves. But then neither did my white friends.

I could care less what color he is, but that Link to George Dailey's site was a bad thing to post. Now I want one of his knives. Looks like he's right up there with Joe Kious and the like. Darn, one more knife that's way out of my price range...

I have also noticed that there are very few darker skinned people at knife shows and thought it curious. As an aside, I've always wondered at the lack of African American folks in the Hifi business as well. I visit most every high end hifi store in the southwest and can only think of two companies owned by African Americans, and only a handful of sales people scattered through the territory. I look at it from a sales perspective. It sure seems like we're missing a significant market segment somehow. Hmmm.....

One of the greates things about the internet IMHO is the free exchange of information and general lack of prejudice. People will even talk to a one eyed, one legged pink gnome like me.

Amen! :D It's a beautiful thing, isn't it?

I have a friend that jokingly calls me "the ethnic mystery." My Dad was of Italian descent, and I tan well. I'm a mail carrier, so I'm outside every day and maintain a good tan. I've been mistaken for a Hispanic and Middle-Eastern person and in the Navy, I was called in to pose in a photo with the Equal Opportunity Programs Officer for a command presentation because there wasn't an African American or Hispanic person handy... they figured I made a good "generic" non-caucasion.

Take it easy, brothers of all colors,

Don't feel too bad. I got trashed for inquiring about the number of female members on BF! :(

I've heard from a good source that Wesley Snipes collects knives. How many or how often or how enthusiastic....who knows but it's been witnessed by my old Supervisor where I worked selling knives a few years back. Not to mention a bunch of other movies stars as well. I've even sold to movie starts, but that's another topic. So I'll start that one... Where are all the famous people/knife knut out there ? Why don't we see them out at shows orhere on line ?

Answer: Too damn busy making money or too busy getting laid to be rubbing elbows with us weirdos:rolleyes:

One of my earliest posts was a question "Art there any Black Knifemakers?" ...

Here it is

Funny thing is, when I saw VG start this topic and there were one or two replies I thought ... "the last guy that brought this up was raked over the coals... let's sit back and watch the slaughter"

I wonder if this polite and level head conversation has anything to do with our subconsious post 9-11 mentality. If anything has come from the past couple of years it's that we're all Americans (well the majority of BFr's are) and have similar goals in life - IMO the race card is just not that important any more.

FWIW I used to think Danbo might be black, but just because his signature said "Danbo, soul brother of Rambo".

I am Black (Colored:D ) African-American and I collect low end user Knives Timberland, Cold steel, and CRKT for now. I am looking to expand my firearm collection soon. When I get some money I would like to make it to a big show. I would have replied sooner but packing to leave town will be back sunday so you will have to refer all questions to the other Brother on the forum;) .

... the possiblity that anyone raking VG over the coals would get disassembled and tossed into the flames? :D

I think that we've had a few similar threads has gotten everyone used to just answering the question instead of questioning motives for the asking.

well i am a black knife nut and most of my friends either black or white aren't really into knives but sorta of like them and most of the black people i know aren't really into knives. But thats just my family and friends but there are segments of black people who are really big on guns and knives take Walter Payton his son just auctioned off his huge gun collection.

Black, Negro, African-American, All of the above and a knife knut. No harm in asking the original question. I've wondered the same myself just out of curiosity.
