Hey,everyone

I am new to this forum and new to smithing, my question is, is there any one in my area that would be willing to share with me there knowledge in blade making. Take me under there wing so to speak and teach me this awesome trade that I have been interested in for quite some time now and I am a proud person who never asks for a hand out nor do I expect one but I am making this trend in the hopes that someone would be willing to share probono into this dream of mine.

Thanks Martin

And to add I realize sometimes dreams are just that dreams but I was taught to never give up on something you have a passion for .Strive for excellence and greatness and don't hold back until you reach what you want then you do it all over again.

What kind of experience do you have so far, any metalworking, woodworking, or other similar hobbies? Have you made any attempts at making a knife yet or have any tools at your disposal? I'm only asking because I'm curious where you are in this journey at the moment, and also your experience with machinery. Safety is my number one priority, as I've seen some very severe industrial accidents first hand, and don't want to see another anytime soon lol.

My experience is limited, as is my free time because I work 6 1/2 nights a week from 7pm-6am as a welder/mechanic. I make basic flat ground stock removal knives and leather or kydex sheaths for the most part, nothing extremely complex. If your interested in squeezing in sometime, you could come by my little garage and tinker around with some stuff. I have a few belt grinders, a couple ht ovens, drill press, basic forge and anvil, welders, etc. I'm not in any position to "take anyone under my wing", but could get your feet wet with maybe designing and making a basic stock removal knife.

I have zero experience forging, so I can't speak for any techniques on that end and I still consider myself very green in this trade. I've been so busy as of late that I haven't even touched a knife in about 4 months, but I would be willing to dust it off to offer a little bit of guidance. All I ask is that you bring your own boots and safety gear, and cover a little bit of cost on the materials/consumables used.

Let me know what you think. Feel free to email me if you want, I check that more frequently.
