Are there any FFG Manix 2 runs planned?

Just a great design possibly hindered by the hollow grind :o
I saw that Blue G10 FFG Manix 2 and fell in love

If they do I will change my plans and acutally buy a Spyderco in 2013. For me though its not the grind is the lack of skeletonizing the liners that keeps me from getting the reg Manix 2.

I'll be all over a FFG/skeletonized standard production Manix 2. I was just sitting here about an hour ago comparing my DLC M2 to my M4 M2 and it's ridiculous how much nicer the sprint version is, simply for being lighter and slicing so much better.

I'm in the same boat. I'd prefer a FFG one that isn't the lightweight version. I missed out on the previous sprints and will continue to hold out on one for now.

The standard g10 manix has been on my radar for a long time. The lack of FFG is the only thing stopping me from getting one right away and I don't want to pay more for a sprint. If they made a FFG skeletonized version, I'm sure cost would go up slightly but would be worth it.

I feel the same way as QuickDraw... so i got an XL manix 2. Love the blade shape but I wish it was the size of the regular manix 2.

If the only reason you are not buying a Manix 2 is the grind, you are missing out on a fine knife.

I like the production grind. Gives us some variety IMO

Why not just snag the Lightweight version? That's FFG right?

JD

The steel just doesn't measure up for me. I'm currently spoiled on M4. If the lightweight ever gets S30V, I'd be all over it. I just hope that the lightweight getting FFG is a sign that the standard version will get it also, just like the Delica/Endura eventually did.

As for variety, I like it with scale colors, scale materials, and blade steels, but the grind can stay FFG and I'd never get bored with it.

+1. It is a solid knife, hollow grind or no. The hollow grind gives it a neat look, to my eye.

I do like my FFG versions, though - I bought the Orange S30V and black CTSBD30P sprint runs. To me it was well worth the extra cash, so I definitely recommend the OP keep an eye out for a sprint run.

Get yourself one of these bad boys if you can find one. The Stag Arms Manix 2:

If they made it FFG it would also raise the price by ~$20. Starts looking quite a lot like a PM2.

I keep hearing people say this, and honestly..I don't really mind. I don't see why coming up to Para 2 price is such a bad thing. The reality is, the Manix 2 only costs less because of the grind and no skeletonized liners (or at least that's my assumption). It's not like it's any less of a knife.

Does the lightweight version not have liners?

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like it would be silly for Spyderco to produce two knives so similar. Same price, same factory, same materials, same size, almost the same blade shape - the only differences would be the lock and a slightly different handle shape.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't, that's where much of the weight savings comes from.

Perhaps, but ergonomics are completely different and that's enough for me. There are a lot of knives that are as much or more similar, like the Para 2/Superleaf, any of the Salt knives that compare to the Delica/Endura, etc.

I always chalked the price difference between the PM2 and the M2 to be the blade steel differences. I'm not a huge fan of the hollow grind, but I have one anyways. Biggest reason that I don't carry it is the G10 shreds my pocket, the para doesn't for some reason. Would love to buy a sprint, but don't want to put out that kinds cash.

I was too early in my collecting to jump on the S90V one.

I picked up a standard production and liked it so much that I pre-ordered the Blue and Green (xhp) and waited what seemed like forever for them. After the sprints came in, I was spoiled. The balance of weight and strength makes an amazing blade. The early price on the Orange and the BD30P were good deals. The Stag Arms is nice, and I love the steel on the M4 one.

Every time I see people mentioning wanting a CTS-20CP version makes me think I might get a substitute for missing the S90V one. The Manix 2 platform still hasn't seen anything in the M390/204P class of steels.
