Are there any KITE JOCKEYS out there?

Parafoils are great, no sticks folds up nice and small so it's easy to keep a few in the cars.

I don't think this festival is on parr with the one Vel mentioned, but this was pretty darn cool. They had stunt kite competitions on one bay and on another Show Kites. If I had a video cam I would have shot the stunt kites, but since all I had was my digicam I photographed the show kites. You can see you pics by clicking here,http://www.picturetrail.com/phil0496
and then scrolling down to KITE FESTIVAL.
I think the best way to view them is in SLIDESHOW.

PhilL,
Thanks for the links. That 3d looks like an awesome kite. Does that use only a single string? If so that's what I need. I picked up a stunt kite down in San Diego about 25 years ago. It was just a small simple diamond pattern with a single string. This kite design had won alot of stunt championships. These competions involved knocking a empty can off the top of thin pole. This kite had the great ability to nose dive on command. Just let some quick slack in the string and it went straight down. To assist in the speed going down, just pull the string to increase speed. To get out of the dive bomb just give some slack till it turns up and pull up on the string. This kite was a blast, till I lost it. It had some putty on the top to control the amount of response by controlling the tip. Well one day I thought I would show off at work and took off the weight. It doesn't take any wind for this thing to take off. I have it really high and far out, when I set it up to take a nose dive. Well the rest is history, my kite went straight down and never recovered  I saw it go down in trucking yard and was unable to find it :grumpy: Since then I never found anything quite like it, but then never looked in the net. If this is the same type of stunt kite I will definitely get one. Thanks

The 3D is a Dual-line Stunt kite. In fact I've never seen a single line stunt kite. The single line action you describe sounds like a Chinese Fighter kite.
