Are there any "Old Hickory" fans here?

I bought my first one in Ann Arbor in the '80s, astonished even then to find a good domestic knife so cheap. Nice they're still available.
Green Rivers are nice too, if you can do without the fake hammer-marks.
Ann Arbor? You still in the mitten?

SHUCKS...I have a couple of " old Hickory " pocketknives bought from Maher&Grosh decades ago. One is a Muskrat for sure and the other is a Whittler, iF memory serves.
And so it goes...

I spent my teenage years using an Old Hickory 7" butcher knife as my regular hunting companion. Picked up a new one last month and looking forward to putting it to work this fall!

The only Old Hickory branded knife I have is this Ontario 606 which is quite clearly a Queen build. I actually have two of these knives, got them NIB for a song after recognizing the telltale Queen frame. I imagine it is unrelated to some of the old Ontarios you folks are referring to. :o

I believe Ontario owned Queen until a few years ago.

As I said earlier that I'd like to get my hands on that 6" bladed "Sticker" The MSRP directly from OKC is $19.95 including shipping.

Heck I'm moving to Ann Arbor at the end of the summer, living with a friend. Small world, I thought only Derek was nearby.

I got this Gerber Bowie at a sporting goods store on the corner of Liberty and something. The Old Hick was from Kroger's, down the hill from North Campus dorms. (I ground the back to a "blunt bevel edge" a la Kephart.)

I have a toolbox full of these old black knives; Ontario, Utica, Forgecraft, Russell, even an Ecko.

Kroger?!?!?? Amazing, i never would have thought them to carry Old Hickory. I only see it online or at the flea market. I'm going to be buying one soon enough.

I'm pretty sure it was a Kroger: groceries and basic kitchen supplies. 35 years ago or so now, though.
Here is an atonement for my geographical and manufactural digressions: my other OHs. I was surprised to see how few of my boxfull are OHs.
Maybe I should pick up that little kitchen set south of here.

Good looking cutlery! Out here, Fred Meyer (a store created in 1922 in Portland, Oregon by Fred G. Meyer) was bought out by Kroger a few years ago. I could see Fred Meyer carrying Old Hickory. Mom had a few Old Hickory knives back in the day. Perhaps I can have some again.

I haven't gotten around to getting one yet, but I love the fact that they're super affordable pieces of awesome Steel, and that you can basically take any one of them then make a primitive style hide sheath and it'll look like it was just taken off an 1800's mountaineer.

Would anyone else find themselves carrying either Old Hickory's "Skinner" or their "Sticker" in that primitive sheath?

Holy "Grizzly Adams"!

Here is my collection of Old Hickory. The larger 10" is actually a Primble Hickory, but I count it in the same family. I also really enjoy Forgecraft Knifes and have quite a few of those as well.
