Are there discounts for members at any Knife dealers?

Could anyone tell me if there is a central thread that lists all of the discounts that Knife dealers offer to BladeForums members?
Thank you.

Considering that EVERYONE has to discount off of crazy MSRP in the production knife biz, I don't see folks wanting to give away any more money unless absolutely necessary. ;)

Considering they already have to pay to advertise here, doubt they can afford any to give discounts.

It's not like being a member here is special or something.

Mine did too.

I try always to ask dealers for a discount.

On Candlepower Forums, all of the dealers offer us discounts. They range from 8 to 12%. Sometimes higher.

Just thought I would ask. Never hurts to ask.

To increase sales, offering a 5%-10% discount would be great, reserved for Basic/Gold/Platinum members only. However, how would Bladeforums enforce that? Let's say 3/4 of the dealers jump on board, how many of them are running a large mail order service, store or off their kitchen table? Then you have that pricing style from Benchmade and Chris Reeve, among others. Also, what about those custom flippers (referring to the flipper mechanism, not the style of selling), that seem to dominate the sales these days?

I think it would be a great idea, but I don't think it would work across the board. Dealers that have paid memberships at other forums, are just regular members on other forums, and dealers that advertise on other forums, would have to offer the discount across the board. People would create throwaway accounts on all of the forums just to get their discount. If it is a small shop, something that has been in stock for a long time, and hasn't moved, feel free to talk to the owner, send an email, call them preferably. If they tell you no, no worries. If they say yes, great. If they tell you to go to hell, on a reasonable request for a discount, then don't do business with them.

If you (in general, not the OP) want a discount on the hot +$300 flipper, that is sold out everywhere, good luck with that.

It would still be nice though.

I like discounts as well as anybody but my motivation behind using BF registered members for new knife purchases is simply to support them as they are supporting our little community. These guy's and gal's pay $350 a year to be here and I feel that making a purchase from them helps them just a bit to keep their doors open which is no easy task in this highly competitive knife sales business. Also with most manufacturers using MAP pricing unless they don't advertise their price there is not much they can do.

We tried doing a forum discount a long time ago. It got very difficult because, as others have said, MAP pricing always got in the way. We would say all forum members get 5% off of every purchase but this excludes X, Y and Z. The problem was that some forum members would get upset that the code we would offer would not work on the MAP protected knives we sell.

The best way to find out about dealer specials for members is to check out the for sale by dealers thread. A quick glance a few times a week will let you know what new knives have come in and from time to time specials that dealers here are running. It may not be Blade Forum exclusive but it is a great way to find some awesome deals and new to the market knives!

B/F Dealers already support the forum by joining.:) Many have done some very generous giveaways.:D Knife retailers gotta eat too.;)

Nice, wish I'd seen this before my last purchase lol.

You and me both, just ordered a Combat Troodon a few days ago. Nonetheless, it's a sweet enough discount for me to order a Hinderer before the Troodon even arrives.
