Are these clones? (Chaves and Hinderer)

Someone locally is selling a Chaves Rendencion and a Hinderer XM-18 3.5" slicer. I am unfamiliar with both and wanted to know if they are clones. I have looked at hundreds of photos and I cannot find one that looks like the Chaves this gentleman has listed.

Thanks in advance.

Hinderer looks good to me.

I'm too unfamiliar with the Chaves to offer much help mate.

My initial reaction to it was that the lockbar cutout looked too wide. They are normally pencil thin. But I am not up to speed with my Chaves models and history.

What has me worried on the Chaves is that the clip has a bit missing off the bottom. Clone Chaves' have the same thing.

Something feels wrong with the Chaves knife, the combination of the clip to that model and the grinding of the blade does not feel a hundred percent ok, but I may be wrong.

To me the Chaves may be a clone. I'm not positive on that but it does look like it has some similarities to the clones. Google the clone for pics and videos. There are a few versions or revisions.

Edit: 99% sure the Chaves is a clone. Please verify with the maker himself. The thumbstud, lockbar, pivot, screws, finger divot in the scales and blade grind all point to clone from comparing pics.

What are the tells for the hinderer clones? Maybe it's legit or not but I dunno much about hinderer's clones. Just wondering because if the Chaves is a clone for sure, maybe the hinderer might be too.

Here are some more of the hinderer. It has ti scales. What would be a good price for this?

At your membership level we cannot quote you a price.

If you are worried about them....don't buy them. Their price is probably too good to be true.

And if you miss a "real deal,"...it happens. If you buy an overpriced clone...you are stuck. Better to err on the side of caution.

The Chaves looks dodgy. Lock is not looking how it should.
It may have been tuned up by the previous owner tho.
At any rate, I won't purchase it, if I was in your situation.

Good call passing up the Chaves. I have a v2 Redencion 228 and it screams quality. This one looks way too sloppy to be a legit Chaves. The clip, the lock bar and just the general feel from the pics is all wrong.

He finally got back to me and said that the Chaves was a clone but the Hinderer is Real. I don't know if I should buy the Hinderer though. Still seems a bit risky.

Is this really a question? Guy tried to sell you an expensive knife without revealing it is a fake until being questioned. If I were you, I'd stay as far away from him as possible.

p.s. Is he a Bladeforum member? If so, could you please PM me his user name if you do not feel comfortable to give it out in this thread?
