Are these scales going to be too thin?

They would have been pretty thin before I tapered the tang. Thanks for your help with that btw. The knife is way nicer now, plus I now know that I can taper any tang I want. ;)

But now that it's tapered, it just looks too thin. They actually feel great, but it just looks odd. I could make up another batch of the handle material, but I went and attached the liners and I don't have any more in white. They ain't comin off without destroying them.

My options are to go ahead and finish it with these, or make a new thicker batch sans liners. I have some zebra wood that a friend gave me but it's about 1/4" thick. Same problem.

Other than that I can just put it on hold until I can buy some g10 or something. I have no idea when that might be though.

Face join them to 1/8" thick canvas. No problem.

Haha, I just noticed what is in the background in those pics...

I'll admit, I keep fine knives in my presence to act as motivation/inspiration. :D ;)

I'm not sure I'm getting what you're saying though. Are you saying laminate these scales to canvas laminate? I could do that, but that would go between the burlap and fiber liners. Might look cool now that I think about it... I also have black fiber that I could glue to the white fiber, but it probably wouldn't add enough width. Sorry, I'm typing out loud here... Okay, I need to think.

Personally, for an EDC, I much prefer a thin handle. Makes it easy for it to disappear on your belt or in a front pocket sheath.

Those liners look just about right for a knife that size especially if it were to be a neck knife or pocket knife... Now if it's to be a carving knife or is intended to be used for longer periods of time I think you'd want something thicker and more ergonomic. My .02c...

Luckily, that is a "guy" knife and it is OK. If it was a "gal" knife it would ask, "Are these scales going to make my butt look fat?"

Btw, thanks for the invite the other day. I was states away, so couldn't make it, but I appreciate the thought. Hope everything went really well for you and yours.
