Today I was browsing through Buck's website and couldn't find any of the fixed-blade Nighthawk knives, not even the Nighthawk Bravo which had just come out this year.

Do you know it they're getting discontinued? Or are they just updating their website?

If they're changing the Nighthawks I hope they at least come up with a better sheath!!!

Thanks guys.

They are being tranistioned to a TOPS collaboration. I do believe they will be getting a Molle type sheath.

So the current version of the Nighthawk is discontinued?

Will they be making small lots of them for distributors like they do with the 120?

BG42EDGE,

I don't know if it is completely discontinued, but it is no longer available on Buck's on-line catalog.

However, since it was available till last december, you can still find almost all the models with your retailer/dealer.

I just searched some websites for the 655 and it is still available.

Thanks.

I'm puzzled that our Buck friends who monitor the forum never give us a heads up on these things.

You'd think we'd be the first to know on news like this.

One of our policies is to try to keep a handle on new product direction and information until after our big annual trade show (the Shot Show-will be mid-January this year in Vegas)

Jeff was correct that Nighthawks will continue but as part of the TOPS family of Buck knives...who played a role in the redesign of the sheath.

If that's the way it has to be, it would be a nice gesture to offer an informational post here just prior to the Shot Show each year, simply to recognize the many loyal Buck customers of this forum (very few of whom, I'd guess, will be attending the Shot Show).

Or would such a leak cause huge damage to the company?

(I can't see how it could, but then there's no way I could know the reason for the cloak and dagger--pun intended--in the first place.)

Also, I don't see that the original question has been addressed anyway.

As far as I can see, it's still unanswered as to whether the current version of the Nighthawk is history and only a different and improved version will be made or if the change is limited to a new name and a new sheath--or what???

Now don't tell me we have to come to the Shot Show to find out.

:D

I wonder if the handle will be changed? Now might be a good time to get one because I bet the price will be changed when the new Tops/Buck model comes out.I know the Nighthawk has been a popular knife with our soldiers.

I think Nighthawks are pretty good knives with really nice blades, however they do need some improvements, especially regarding the sheath and probably some modifications on the handle.

Hope the new ones are better in those aspects.

LOL CJ,I'll bet ya a Nighthawk that the new ones will have a blood grove on the blade like the 651 pigsticker.

I hope all of this turns out well I've always thought highly of the nighthawks but theres always room for improvement.

I just received a 655 that was in a box dated 12-21-10 and the sheath was marked 650 but it is made like the sheath for the 651

Shirley hasn't got anything to do with it. It is the same design but demintioned to fit the 650

I HATE those holes and cutouts TOPS has on some of their knives. If Buck wants to still play in the tactical market they need to produce some solid knives like they did with the Strider and Simonich collaborations and forget the TOPS gimick designs.
