Are they Nighthawk series being discontinued?

I don't think I can say as per the rules. However the prduction is or must be in state of confusion right now. You can go to the bay and pick your best price and ask them to check for you, that is if you can trust them to tell the truth. Hope that helps.

I'm just confused about why they would collaborate with TOPS and change only the sheath. I guess they think the TOPS name is valuable.

... If Buck wants to still play in the tactical market they need
to produce some solid knives like they did with the Strider and Simonich collaborations and
forget the TOPS gimick designs.

Colt, AF, that's not correct. The new design is conclusively justified.

These holes are a predetermined breaking points during tactical overload,
paired with amed weight reduction and the Morse code "r" as a reminder for
the Buck Tops Collaboration concerning the Nighthawk because the knife name
contents no "R". Do you agree?

;) :)

Best,
Haebbie

Haebbie, I dont like TOPS knives, that just me. However, I did spend just over 2 years during 2 tours in Iraq as an Infantryman and feel I know just a little bit about tactical knives. Very few soldiers, to include those in Special Operations, use TOPS knives despite TOPS's advertizing. IMO they are generally mall ninja gimmick armchair commando knives that are priced far above thier value. I was not at all pleased to see Buck develop a relationship with them. That being said I do think highly of my CSAR-T, but except for the blade holes its just a beefed up Alpah/Bravo. I think Buck needs to keep the 650 the way it is as it was just fine. Dont fix something that aint broke and dont come up with a solution to a problem that does'nt exist. If Buck wanted to update the 650 why did'nt they just go with the "NightStrider" build out they did a few years ago. IMO that was one of the best tactical knives they ever produced, as was the 888 Strider/Buck Solution. I swear, If Buck goes the way of SOG and TOPS I'll dump them in a heartbeat and go back to using Strider and Chris Reeves knives again exclusively.

Some of Tops designs seem pretty solid, yet alot of them are way over the top for me.Does'nt Rowen of ESEE fame do the heat treatment for tops Knives?I've been led to believe that they did.

I don't understand all the hullabaloo about who they collaborate with every year, (guys are starting to freak out like when they collaborated with strider ) I highly doubt one collaboration or another is going to cause a mass Buck sell off. But it will help out collectors in the future ;)
I will say I like the sheaths that are included with the new nighthawks! Much better than the old style. If collaborating with TOPS makes the sheaths that much better, I am all for it! The holes in the blade- To each his own. ;) Once they are available I may have to "update" my sheath. :D

I don't really care too much about who they collaborate with or why, but If those will actually be the "new" Nighthawks I gotta say I'm kind of disappointed, I expected something different.

To be honest the sheath is a lot better, but the blade and handle just don't work. A couple of chinese-no-name knives had already copied that handle, the only thing that made Buck's handle different was the cool green color, and they got rid of it.

They would have been better off just changing the sheath.

Hopefully the new sheaths will be available separately.

Actually Rowen Machine in Boise, ID has ended the "relationship" they had with TOPS. Rowen was the major manufacturer of knives for TOPS.
