Are you concerned about the clip on the Sebenza?

I have a small Sebenza with wood inlays and I worry about carrying it sometimes because I don't trust the clip. It just seems a little weak to me. Nothing compared to the clips on my Benchmade knives. When I clip on a Benchmade I feel completely confident that the knife isn't going anywhere. I don't feel that way about the Sebenza. So when I carry it I usually carry it in the calfskin pouch it comes with inside my pocket.

The Sebenza's clip is one of the better ones made. It's got that double bend that secures the folder in the pocket. If your's is too loose just use the allen wrench to take it off and slightly bend it a little to make it tighter. I have never heard of anyone having a problem with their clip.

While it is true the sebbie clip is weaker than most BM clips I have not had any problem with mine falling out of my pocket, even a few times when it snagged on stuff. I have carried it almost everyday for overa year without a problem. I generaly carry in jeans but have also carried in suit pants.

Unfortunately..I think the sebbies of old had better clips...I have broken 2 clips since carrying Sebs (12yrs). Usually, I had snagged them on something to finally do them in..Wish CRK would go back to the thicker clips.

Ive never had a problem with my umnumzaans clip. The double dip makes it pretty secure. No worries!

They are a bit flimsy. I've bent them out a couple of times when they gotten caught on things.

I'd have to agree on the old thicker ones being better. My 2004 one is perfect, and the double bump bend is second to none for keeping it in place.

The thicker one once it reaches the second bump in the pocket is almost hard to get pushed in, once it is in it's not going anywhere.

I have bent two 2007 thinner clips.

I didn't like the clip at first, but it's grown on me. The second bump (in the middle) keeps it more secure on thinner material, like suit pants and mess shorts, so I've grown to trust it more than other clips.

If they make the double bend clip with the stronger metal of the older clip it would be the best of all time.

The main reason I have not gotten a Sebenza is that I know I would be constantly worried about losing it. I have lost two knives already in the span of three years. If you lead a physically active life and carry a knife everyday you will lose it eventually regardless of the clip, it's just something that happens.

out of all the knives i have, the only ones that have slipped out of my pocket have been benchmades. go figure...

I was carrying my large micarta 21 in my back pocket just yesterday, and sat down in an office chair with a padded armrest. I went in at a bit of an angle, and my clip caught the armrest, and given the padded nature, it really grabbed on. Bent the clip about an inch and a half away from the handle. I took the clip off the knife and, using a makeshift vice of the space between two boards nailed together, I wedged the flat into the gap and bent the clip back down to normal. Good as new. As for the clips of Benchmades versus Sebenzas, yeah, the BMs are sturdier, but the Sebenza is better designed. I never got it when others talked about that little bend, and how well it was designed until I got my first. That little second bend in the Sebbie clip catches the seam of your jeans pocket perfectly. I now understand what all the fuss is about. Yeah, the clip could be a bit beefier, but if it were, I think my makeshift vice would have not worked so well.

The clips do feel flimsier than others even with the double hump. I started just carrying with the sheath.

Even the new whimpy clips can be adjusted to be very, very secure. I posted a how-to moons ago.

I did this to begin with. My clip is now very secure, in fact I think that Spyderco/BM clips have weaker spring action than my current CRK clips.

I find the clips adequate, but they don't seem quite as secure as the clips on the Spydercos in my EDC rotation. I often find that these clips work their way up past the double hump, and half way out of my pocket. My Umnumzaan and small Sebenza's clips seem to be holding up better (staying tighter) than the large Sebenza's for some reason. I guess I should try adjusting it soon.
