Are you concerned about the clip on the Sebenza?

I have bent them too.
while sitting down in chairs, it sometimes snags. I was always able to bend them back.

If you bend the clip, it is a user error, not a design flaw.

I have also bent the clip on other knives, most notably my strider sng, which is not a weak clip. It just happens every now and then, a result of something sticking out of your pocket.

I also concur with your BM statemnt, just did a weekend of motorcycle riding and camping with my brand new BM 710 in m390 clipped to my pants and it never moved an inch.

I'm surprised that no one agrees with me :). I'll have to revisit that clip when the knife comes back from CRK this week (had the blade repolished).

perhaps it depends on the pants? alls i know is that i hardly think about the knife (any knife) when its in my pocket. but whenever i do look down for when i need it, my CRK is always there, my spyderco is always there, even my crkts...the only knive i ever have problems with are mt banchmades and kershaws, but this is not the section for that.

I do agree :) you worry about bending the clip, and they do bend. Weak? it's still titanium. But you can bend that stuff too

The clip tension directly corresponds to blade-opening tension (per the detent), as the clip is riding on the lockbar, which is likely why CRK compromises a bit on the tension. That said, CRK-factory-spec clip tension on the newer clips is too whimpy for me, so I adjust them all, even on brand new CRK's. The little bit of added blade-opening tension is worth it to me. :)

I don't worry about bending the clip. I worry about the knife falling out of my pocket. It doesn't seem very snug when I slip it over my pocket :)

When I try to lift the clips on my Benchmade knives with reasonable pressure the clip doesn't budge. The Sebenza clip lifts up with relative ease.

i misinterpreted :) yes, they come out rather easy because of this. Check often ;)

Mine got pulled out of my pocket after grabbing a wire rack at work and bent it to hell. Its a good clip but I really dig mine with a Meerkat clip

I've seen a lot of videos where people have knocked a knife because the clip holds too tightly and wears out their jean pockets. I think this would be a plus for me. I want my knife to hold onto my pocket damn tight, especially if it's a sebenza. I can replace a lot of jeans for the price of a sebenza.

yes but depending on where I am, I'd rather walk knifeless than pantless

:P

Man, I'd love to see that post Professor.

I went searching for it a few days ago and gave up. More or less, you remove your clip, tape up the flat on the clip where the screw hole is, chuck it up in a vice on just that flat, and bend the clip firmly with focus on the very first bend closest to the flat.

That's going to increase overall tension while not creating a hump on your clip at the secondary bend.

Then what I do to prevent long-term movement of the clip in the handle recess is I apply a micro-thin layer of epoxy with a toothpick on the underside of the flat and allow to cure fully while the clip is still off the knife. The next day you will have created a micro-fine "gumminess" that has both fixed and prevented the inevitable clip movement that I've experienced. YMMV on this.

IMO the Seb's clip is the best out there. It works very well and instead of distracting from the knife like a last-minute add on it really adds to the knife and is very integral to the overall design.
My newest Seb, Dob 5/2011, does have the tension set weaker than the last few I've had. I play with clip tension usually anyway.
Just take off the clip with the allen wrench, cover the end with the hole in it with masking tape or cloth, grab it with pliers having the edge of the pliers right at the initial bend after the hole and just bend it. It bends fairly easily so don't over do it. I've done this to remove or add tension to a number of knives. no biggie. Now enjoy the most elegant, simple and secure clip out there!

I have to say that I HATE the clip on my large Sebenza...or rather I hateED it :(

The clip on my large 21 offered the worst of everything. The edges were narrow and somewhat sharp and they tore the crap out of the pockets on all my jeans. Even worse, the clip itself was "slippery" and the knife would randomly pop out of my front pocket if I sat or bent in a particular way (never a problem with my Spydercos or Benchmades)

Above I say I "hated" the clip because in the end, the poor clip design aided in my final loss of my beloved Large 21 at the Home Depot...probably somewhere in the mulch area whilst loading bags onto a cart. Understand, the clip wasn't bent or even particularly loose, the titanium was just not grippy enough on the denim.

If I had it to do over again I would roughen up the inside of the pocket clip (at least).
