Are you looking at any new makers?

Tobin Smith and Ryan Weeks, I'm also going to throw in Matt Markell, I've got a few of his knives, they've never let me down...

Now would be the time to jump on the Kyle Hanson knives. It sure looks like he has a bright future in the knife world. Ben Seward is another one that is up and coming.

Do let us know what you choose, with pics.

I do not know if it exists in the U.S.. but I feel that people often
are ready to buy a higher price a product (for us a knife) in France it becomes increasingly the reality;. people no longer have any respect for the product and the work of the craftsman. I understand that the price of a knife made by a craftsman trusted name is not the same as confirmed by a craftsman, but the good is an other debate.
I understand very well as the budget are not equal for all

I have recently acquired both a Laconico:

And a Tobin Smith:

I am impressed with both of them.

This small fixie from PML Knives is also outstanding:

I second Lycosa on Eric Bonner. Lycosa turned me onto him and I have a custom order in with him now. I have been impressed with the communication and his willingness to take on the project I asked of him. I'll keep y'all updated.

Like some of my collector buddies who have already acquired examples of his work.
Congrats, you guys !
Sam is the Man...Samuel Lurquin.

Hello!

Probably depends on how you want to define "new", but the Sobral knives are the first to come to my mind. Really inexpensive for the great workmanship you get from CAS! I can not say enough good things about Claudio and his brothers.

Best regards,
Alex

Good thread. I'd be interested on any other suggestions for ABS makers to jump on now?

My two cents.....Marty Young and Alan Folts.

Great communication from both and willingness to work with your design within reason.

My last two customs have come from a member here NPD , great quality work FNF spot on leather work great .
His prices are very reasonable and he has just produced some friction folders and a frame lock .
I can't paste to the pictures but look up via his profile , we pay a lot more here in Europe though .
But even with postage from Denmark they are still very competitive , my two pence worth ;).

Sorry I can link and its Nektatios here not NPD ;)
