Are you missing any hair?

I've had to resort to using my legs once or twice, right now the hair on my arms has mostly grown back from the last sharpening.

Remember that you need to test for sharpness on both arms. If you only do one arm, you're only testing one side of the edge, which could just be a burr. I've found it best to make sure the edge shaves equally well on both sides.

Really wish you hadn't told me this, Joshua J.:D

I tend to alternate, shaving fur from one arm while soaking the other in Rogaine. It seems counterproductive to shave the arm that's soaking.

So in crowded public places, who here looks at the arm hair of passersby to see if you can spot a fellow knifenut?

This whole thing reminds me of when I was about 6 years old, and my dad told me, "Don't look at dirty pictures, son. It'll make you go blind." I thought about that for a while and said, "Gee, dad. Going blind would be terrible! Could I just look at them until I need glasses?"

About a year later it occurred to me that if I looked at dirty pictures with one eye closed, my remaining vision would last twice as long...

I've had people who did'nt know me very well comment on my lack of left arm hair compared to my right.Maybe they thought I had mange!

My arms look like I have a strange hair disorder

I'm missing plenty of hair ever since passing the 30+ years landmark. :D

Oh, arm hair you mean? Yeah, that too.. :)

I don't smoke but I use cigarette papers to check the sharpness of a blade.

i was just talking to a buddy from work about if anyone ever notices that my left arm is usually bald or at least missing patches of hair. however i have realized that arm hair is totally different from facial hair, so if you really want to test your sharpness use the blade on your facial hair, it grows back faster, gives you a truer test of sharpness, and won't cause any questions like, "why don't you have any hair on your face?".

my left arm is bald, maybe i should suggest to my wife that instead of a bikini wax i can help and test sharpness at the same time

I don't shave hair to test sharpness.

I've taken to using the Murray Carter "three finger test" to check for a keen edge. Works great.

Just imagine how many blades this guy could test!
