Are you more into folders or fixed blades?

Do you lean more towards one or the other as far as your likes or is it about even?

One thing i have found is i keep increasing the amount of money i would spend for a knife. I would have never imagined i would consider paying as much for some knives.

This week it's folders, but last week it was fixed blades.:D I know what you are saying about the prices. At first I thought $100 was way too much to spend on a knife, now sometimes I catch myself looking at something thinking "500 bucks, that's not too bad".

Fixed blades. I haven't bought a folder for years, although the BM mini-Skirmish is tugging at my wallet.

I use folders, but I also buy fixed blades because I just like them. Most of the fixed blades lay around unused. The folders get used. I buy both. I've bought two folders in the last two weeks because in each case, I will use them. One was a SOG Vulcan and the other was a Spyderco Endura (serrated version). The Spydie will get used to death in the next week and I believe it will do well. My last fixed blade was in June at the Blade Show, Bob Dozier's Canoe model.

Fixed blades are my prefered choice and get used and carried alot. Folders are a compomise for the sake of social situations where fixed blades are not apropriate.

Fixed blades for me, both in the city and out in the woods. I find no use for folders, with the exception of multitools like Leathermans and SAKs. To me, depending on how jovial I'm feeling at the moment, a folding knife is either a poor compromise only barely adequate, or nothing more than a knife that's already broken in two parts. Don't like 'em. But with the law being what it is with regard to fixed blades in many places, it's somewhat understandable that folders are all the rage.

Definately folders, but am getting a hankering for a couple of fixed blades, a short -4"+ and a larger 6 to 10 inch chopper type. If truth be know I would prefer to carry a fixed balde but it would not be practical for me, nor would it be approved!

For me fix-blades are superior to folders hands down but for my environment folders fill the bill. One of the most critical aspects when buying a folder is, will the lock hold up under extreme pressure were one need not be concern with this factor when dealing with fix-blades.

Folders 400+; Fixed Blades 10. No doubt about it, I am a Folder Guy!

Picture #100 in Knife Collection link below has display of most of them, except some of the lastest grabs.

I like to have knives I can carry everyday so to stay legal I'm limited to sub 3 inch, non locking folders.

I used to think this was restrictive, but there are so many great knives out there that fit those specs that I doubt I'd carry anything else even if I could.

It's rare I use/need a fixed blade these days so I don't buy them.

Folders. Carry comfort is probably my biggest reason. I also like folders for being able to carry a 4 inch blade in a pretty compact package.

Folders, 'cause eventho I can carry a fully-loaded Glock 10mm pistol here in Washington state, I can't (usually) carry a fixed-blade knife legally.

Fixed for the most, Though I have a 110, and leek that are used daily. EDC is a folder, as soon as I hit the woods its a fixed. Either a Nimravus or a Revolver.
