Are you running your s.j.'s ''dry''

In answer to the OP's question, NO!!

Even though I may show some pretty rough knives sometimes, the joints are oiled whether they be carbon or stainless. I keep a small bottle of RemOil on my desk and it's an easy thing to do on a regular basis.

I tend to use the same knife for days at a time before getting interested in carrying another. As I switch to a new one, I usually put a drop of oil in the joint(s), work the blades a couple of times, then wipe away any excess oil. I don't have any problem with lint or grit buildup.

I oil the joints of each new or newly acquired knife, work the blades, wipe the excess and repeat when needed. I use Coon P, a knife oil I bought several years ago at SMKW. OH

I oil blades before they go into storage. Oil again before I use one. If a knife starts to feel gritty, I’ll clean the joints, dry them, oil them.

I like to place a limited amount of oil just where I want it. So I use Tuf-Glide in the can with a needle applicator. Tuf-Glide doesn’t attract dirt the way oil does.
