Came home today and my youngest son was jumping out of his skin. He's 12 and a joy!!
Long story short.......he bought his dad a knife!!
He made sure to tell me to be careful cause it's sharp!! And it has 2 blades!! And they open fast!!
Kid kills me!!
It is now, without a doubt, my favorite blade......blades???

hopefully there was some adult supervision when the sale of this "knife" took place.

Since his father is happy about it, I would say the necessary supervision preceded the purchase, and the son learned the lesson well.

Ummmm the wife was with the child at time of purchase......c'mon!!!
She wants to know why I won't go to the mall to buy knives......they're much cheaper there!!
She's blonde.........

That's awesome!

My oldest son turns 10 this weekend.
Here will be his first REAL knife.
Even had his initials stamped into the blade.

I love how knives can bring families joy! My father was my first knife buddy. He always had a switchblade on him when I was a kid. I became obsessed and began collecting knives and then he started to accumulate a few. I think he's gotta have 10 or more now. But he's a knife nut in denial, cuz my mom blames him for my obsession so he feels like he can't encourage my behavior. Either way, its been great. If I have a son or daughter I will surely share the hobby if they are interested.

Our hobbies become SOOOOO much sweeter when shared with our kids!!
I have 3 sons......1 stuck with pool, NOTHING better than reaching the finals in a $1,500 tourney with your son!!!
1 stuck with working out.
And we all play golf.....only as a goof.......much more fun that way!!
We all love shooting ass kicking air rifles!!
And all 3 have sweet blades!

Yeah. I got a daughter. Last time I got a knife her exact words were "Dad, I really dont care about knives. Wanna see my new my little pony?" kids. Its cool your son wanted to get you something. And it seemed to make his day.

You had to see his face when he handed it to me! One of those moments you will have always! He wants to help me sharpen it now!! This is just great stuff!!

Hey heefageLA, would you like to adopt a 52 year old who would really appreciate a birthday present like that?

Ya know Lance....I was thinking the same thing. First thing that came to the thread monitor's mind was that?? Total tool!
On a brighter note, the whole point of the story.....my son helped me sharpen it!! He took interest, listened and learned. No better feeling!!
Safety note.......the brass rods were in place on the Sharpmaker!!
