Aren't kids a pisser???

Very cool! I got one on a keychain 9ne of my girls gave me, it was a freebie given to her at a knife show, and she wanted me to have that one! They still enjoy going to the shows, but it may be just for the dippin dots ice cream?

Came home today and my youngest son was jumping out of his skin. He's 12 and a joy!!
Long story short.......he bought his dad a knife!!
He made sure to tell me to be careful cause it's sharp!! And it has 2 blades!! And they open fast!!
Kid kills me!!
It is now, without a doubt, my favorite blade......blades???
Cool story, and the knife is a cool keepsake. Think in 20 years you will both look back and smile when you see the BatKnife. You have a great family that helps indulge your hobby, that is very hard to find for some people so congrats.

Ya know Lance....I was thinking the same thing. First thing that came to the thread monitor's mind was that?? Total tool!
On a brighter note, the whole point of the story.....my son helped me sharpen it!! He took interest, listened and learned. No better feeling!!
Safety note.......the brass rods were in place on the Sharpmaker!!

Well thank goodness for that, I wouldn't want anyone sending child protective services over to your place for subjecting your son to unsafe sharpening practices :D

That is good. Seems like you guys are on your way. I still stand by my original skepticism now debunked.

I know what it is like sharing this hobby with a kid. My Daughter is 8 and loves it when we go camping and she gets to make curly pieces of wood to add to the fire. She helps me in the kitchen making food. That said, without a good parent watching and teaching, a kid with a knife does this hobby no good, especially in this day and age.

That's awesome I have a 4yr old and a set of 2 yr old twins I can't wait to share my love of knives guns and outdoors with them

Yeah. I got a daughter. Last time I got a knife her exact words were "Dad, I really dont care about knives. Wanna see my new my little pony?" kids. Its cool your son wanted to get you something. And it seemed to make his day.

I have a daughter also. Remember, they are never to old for a beating when they talk crazy!

Just Joking by the way, mines doesn't care for knives either ( and no i don't beat her).

You had to see his face when he handed it to me! One of those moments you will have always! He wants to help me sharpen it now!! This is just great stuff!!

Yeah, I am a semi knife snob. So the knife is nothing to me. But if it was given to me by my daughter It would be the prize of my collection. Something about that connection you have with your child like that is really special. It really is the very definition of "its the thought that counts". Sometimes you wonder if your kids are just dependent on you. But then they do stuff that just makes you really understand they care about you. Those are the moments worth living for.

AMEN ^^^^^
This day was just like hitting the lottery.......alright almost!!

hopefully there was some adult supervision when the sale of this "knife" took place.

Children can buy enough Tylenol to kill an entire platoon of men without anyone batting an eye. Why would a 12 year old need supervision to buy his dad a superduperawesometacticool batarang?

craytabs name should be crankytab lol dude has to bring a crappy tone into every thread. Don't feed him. Guy already said his wife was there with his son and he still stands by his skepticism lol I think he posts just to add a number to his post count, unless he get's enjoyment out of being "that guy". I just keep him on ignore so 9 times out of 10 I don't see what he says unless I read some ones post who quoted him. meh.

Your a lucky man OP, enjoy your family and new blade!

Great story! Thanks for posting!

I am taking my 2 daughters to the mountains this weekend. They have no idea. My oldest is almost 11 and is scared to death of knives. I plan to spend a lot of time with her working on how to properly use and handle a knife. I am hoping with some forced practice she will learn to appreciate and understand them better.

My 4 year old daughter on the other hand will be ready for a knife in a couple of years. She is a beast and is afraid of nothing. She will be the one to possibly share my interest and hopefully one day take over the family business! I hope to be so lucky to get a Bat knife from either of them!

I have 2 girls. They aren't all that interested in my knives, unless they like the color. But whenever something needs opening, they come to Dad. One of the many small things that brings joy to my heart. Great story and story family moment.

That is a cool knife. I would get a Batman knife like that if I ever see one. I'm no collector but we're talking Batman, I'll make a small exception.

Great story--glad to hear they get you and appreciate you. My kids are the same way. Enjoy it brother.

Awesome stuff guys!!
Stupid smile totally stuck to my face!! He put the batablade in its pouch....yes it came with a pouch.....and put it in the perfect spot among the other knives!!
What an awesome freakin day!!

That's great! Who cares what's it is,, seeing his smile giving it to you is all that matters..
