I picked up the newest issue of Blade and inside the front cover, what do I see?? Case folders in smooth green bone and a Shamrock shield inlay.. I called Shepherd Hills Cutlery this morning and they told me that the ad went to press before they realized that the knife would not be produced..

I grew up in Dublin, GA and my first kid was born on March 16th, so St Patty's day has always been a good time in my life.. I was super stoked to see this knife come out, but no joy.. They wont be making it.. I cant tell you how disappointed I am right now.. I very rarely get excited about new knives I see.. Usually I think, oh that's cool, or I may like to get one of those some day.. But, I really really wanted this one.. Eh, stuff happens I guess, I just wanted to vent a bit.. Thanks..

Two words....Custom maker...
Problem solved & lifes too short to get PO'd 'bout a knife Good luck

I'm on Kerry Hampton's waiting list for a custom already.. Not entirely sure when that's going to come to fruition however.. I thought about a custom guy after talking to SHC them this morning.. The bummer though is an off the shelf Case is <$100... Whatever..

OK, so who could do a shamrock shield for me in bone or maybe micarta?? I don't know how they make the shields, so I'm not sure if they are generally of the shelf or what.... I'm not a "trad" knife guy, I just happen to like them and own a few, so sorry for the question..

Vince....Well put ! But I can understand being frustrated.
All us cutlery folks have dreams for some kind of knife
to come out and be just what we've always wanted....
for less than $50. Customs cost big$$$, and in this economy
I think it is safe to say that ALL our collecting budgets are down.
But Vince is right, don't let it eat at you....be patient.

Talk to some makers. There are a lotta makers right here in this forum, that are loaded with talent If U are on Kerry's list,I bet he can do a Shamrock shield & since he knows T Bose,I bet he can get a shield right from Case.,or make one

Not impossible, and certainly will be worth it in the end result

Yes,collecting budgets are down,I'd sell 6 productions,to fund one custom,at loss or gain,any time,just me.

True...but it really boils down to getting what you want. You are pretty much at the mercy of the production companies. You choose from what they produce. Like Vince said, there are plenty of talented makers right here with short wait times and reasonable cost. If it is a knife I really....really want.....I'm probably not waiting or hoping a manufacturer puts out what I'm looking for.

Although that really doesn't fit what I was wanting to get from Kerry, I may change course and see what he can do for me when my number comes up.. Ill continue to look around at some other guys in here..

The john deer knives are a nice green. I wonder if you could find a custom maker to simply replace the John Deere shield with a shamrock? If someone was willing to do that, it would be much less expensive than having an entire knife custom made.

There's also a "Jade Bone" series from Case.

The simplest method might be to buy a CV Case knife with the yellow plastic, and hire a custom maker to completely replace the scales.

Victorinox Swiss Army Classic, Shamrock
green scales with an inlaid stainless steel shamrock in place of the Swiss shield.

Just to tide you over. :)

So,U see bodydamage, the name of the thread could be "Shepherd Hills Hooked Me Up",cause, they way it could turn out,it may just be the best "favor" that could have happened. You could wind up with a more unique piece,in the end.
