One of the reasons I'm a binge knife buyer( every 4 or 5 years I go lookin for something better -buy anywhere from 3 to 5 or 7 different designs -settle on one and then get a second one of that design and then stay the hell away from knife stores) is this kind of experience : I'm looking for a mini-cy(1635) to swap a 1636 blade into .I had tried the mini-mojo a month or so ago -found the lock release anoying and droped that idea. For some reason I asked the salesperson to handle a G-10 Offset.Damm -Damm-Damm with a cherry and a fringe on top - this thing really works for me. What I've been saying for years is I wanted a speed-safe with a axis lock - this thing gets there. I had carried a 1580 Boa as a EveryDayUser for 4 or 5 years straight- it was bigger than I really wanted -pretty "tactical" looking and had a tendency to flop out of my jeans watch pocket at odd moments. My personal dumb moment every 6 or 7 years is getting to listen to that little snap that a blade tip makes when you break it off - the tip of the 1580 was thick/strong enough that this never happened - the 1597 looks like it also would take a really enthusiatic meat head to break it's tip. I don't know what it is about my hand geometry that makes this big thing so incredibly comfortable to use - the smaller versions just don't seem to work for me? This has gotta be overthetop in terms of being a EDU ? It's heavy - it's probably scarier looking than I want - longer blade than I need - gonna be a b#$%h to sharpen -but what a great tool. So -come on guys -don't send me out to buy another one! Oh -yeah -Happy New Year!
