I bought a computer on eBay to use to gain some experience as I search for a job in the field. The seller has been great so far, I finished my order late last Friday. They shipped the computer out to me on Monday afternoon, and emailed me with the tracking number. According to UPS it was SUPPOSED to be delivered today.

I just recently graduated from college and work nights, so I am more or less home all day studyig and pursuing further certifications on my own as I look for a job. In the early afternoon today I get an email form UPS telling me that the package has been delivered, which is news to me since I haven't seen the UPS guy or heard the doorbell, etc. So I go out and look around my house, knowing that often they prefer to shoot packages out as they drive by rather than even TRY to ring the bell. Anyway a computer is pretty large, and I can't find any trace of UPS being there. No computer and no note.

I go and track the package. It says that it had been delievered at 12:45 pm, and SIGNED for by Lalin. Very nice, that isn't me or anybody I can even remotely think of in my area. I know for SURE it isn't anybody in my single family house, as I was the only person home. So I contact UPS in order to see what the *&%^ is going on. They tell me that the package was delivered and signed for by Lalin. BIG HELP!! My complaint was that it was delivered and signed for by some person I don't know, and some person who it wasn't shipped to, and obviously NOT at the correct address!

UPS tells me to wait until tomorrow so they can see what address it was delivered to. WAIT, why the !*&% wouldn't they deliver it to my address as it appeared on the shipping label? Especially since I was home, there were two cars in the driveway, and had the front door open to let some air in the house? Now I guess all I can do is hope the thing shows up, or wait and work with the seller to file a claim with UPS.

I just needed to vent some anger here as I am really ticked at UPS right now. Not that I am ever really happy with them, but this just makes me even more upset. It almost makes it worth my time and money to go out of my way to make sure to NOT use them. I have never had ANY of the problems I have with UPS with FedEx. I mean when UPS gives an estimated delivery date they mean that day or later. Even if it means my package sits on a truck in my local area for a few days, as if to prove some point. With Fedex I get delivery whenever the package gets to my area, even if it means that the estimated date was a day late.

I found out part of the problem. The package was shipped to me at my correct address, according to the shipper records, and UPS records. However it was delivered to some other address that IS in my area. UPS fails to see my problem.

According to UPS I they need to do a trace to find out what the problem. Is it just me, or is it fairly obvious that they just dropped the package off at some address that it wasn't sent to? Or is that not a problem, as it DID in fact make it to my zip code?

Freaky. I used to get mail for someone one block up from me, same building number. His last name had the same first syllable as mine, so the mailman just tossed the letter into the slot for my building without reading the whole name.

If there are similar street names near you or numbers that run in the same sequence, maybe that's where it went.

It would be nice if UPS figures it out. It would really be nice if the people who got it figure out it isn't theirs and make the first moves to get it picked up.

I found out where UPS allegedly delivered the package too. Different street number, different avenue number, and different house number. In my area everything is numbered, so no similiar street names to confuse things. I also got the name of the person who signed for it, and there isn't even one letter in common with our names.

I got this from a call from a UPS representative as the shipper is being as helpful as possible in trying to get this mess straightened out. The UPS caller said we have this package marked as delivered to xxx on 8/11/05 at 12:48 p.m. I say well that isn't my address, and if you check your records it isn't where you shipped it either. So she checks, and says was it shipped to you at yyy?? Yes, that is correct.

They are investigating to see what the problem is. Seems obvious to me, the driver delivered it to a completely different address. whoever signed for it now has a new computer that they didn't pay for, and aren't saying a word about it. So UPS knows they delivered the package to a different address than it was shipped to, and they still need to investigate further to see if there is indeed a problem? I am more than a little upset about the inability of the driver to get the package to who it was shipped, and the fact that UPS admits they delivered it to a different address than it was shipped to, yet are not sure there is a problem.

I hope you're writing down names and addresses...
Getting the package back from where they dropped it off may be a problem, though...
If I have something large delivered by UPS, I have it shipped to work, as it's a commercial account, and the drivers are better because they know their route.
Keep at them...
