Went out to Arizona for my yearly camping trip. I have a buddy who lives in Tucson and we meet up late February early March each year. Attached are a few pics from this trip as well as some knife porn. He had sent me some Ironwood and I put a knife together for him. We set up base camp in the foothills of the Galiuro Mountains looking east towards the Pinaleno Mountains (Mt. Graham). Absolutely beautiful weather and scenery. We traveled to the Aravaipa Wilderness one day and day hiked there this is a great area and a desert oasis. Well enough talking on to the pictures.

Man that takes me back down memory lane! Strange how one can do the usual forgettable stuff for 50 weeks in a year, but those 2 weeks spent in a place like that with special friends will live with you forever. Good looking knife - I like the scales.

Edit: Correction - nice knives! Just saw the second post now.

Thanks for the compliments, it was a great time and was hard to come back to cold Ohio:) Couple more pics. Another pic of the Ironwood knife, the hidden tang knife is a Cherry Burl from Ohio Amish country. The hidden tang has a slight blemish in the brass once I worked it so I decided to keep it for myself and put it through its paces. I waited until we got camp set up then broke the Ironwood knife out to give my buddy he was floored.

great looking pics man.. AZ. is gorgeous this time of year...:)

i really like the looks of that ironwood knife... looks like a very handy user...

Thanks I think the knife turned out great. While I was out there I found a local supplier that had some Ironwood. I was able to pick up a decent amount and can't wait to play with some more. The camping was great and the local mesquite made for some fine tasting steaks:) We jumped a herd of Coues Whitetail up that had 2 nice bucks running with them which was a nice site to see.

Outstanding pics! That sunset pic is beautiful!!!

Like the other's said, you make a pretty knife, excellent grain on that Ironwood!!

Thanks Tony, I look forward to getting out there all year long. It is an annual camping trip away from the wives and away from society:)

Burton Cool looking knife. I love the desert pics you took. That looks like a great place to visit.

Sounds like a great trip to look forward to :) It would be nice to have a friend to go camping with like that. My friends only like fishing, as for me,I enjoy fishing but I don't like what salt water does to my knives :o

I also really like the ironwood handle knife

Its almost like being in a different world, the dry climate together with the geology, very beautiful country.

Yes it is sure a lot different out there than in Ohio. It is a welcome trip this time of year because of cabin fever setting in.
