I just got these blocks added to our web store.
The wood is Arizona Walnut that I bought from an older gentleman who inherited the wood from his father. He brought the wood with him when he moved from Arizona to Oregon over 35 years ago. Verbally I have been told that it is a fairly rare variety of walnut that only grows in high desert ravines in a very limited area.
The following is information from the USDA Forest Service;
The currently accepted scientific name of Arizona walnut is Juglans major (Torr.) Heller.
The range of Arizona walnut extends from central Texas westward to southwestern New Mexico and central Arizona.
Its distribution continues southward into northern Mexico, where it is found from eastern Sonora to western Coahuila.

The coloring is very different from any other types of walnut than I have seen.
I had these blocks stabilized by K&G for added durability and to make the wood easier to get a good finish.

If you would like to take a closer look just click on the photo.

I just finished adding 30+ brand new stabilized Hawaiian Silky Oak blocks to the web store.
There is a big variety of different looks. Nice metallic flash and unusual grain patterns. These blocks were all professionally stabilized by K&G.

Just click on the photo to take a closer look at what is still available.
