So who is going to the Arkansas show? Do they have a cutting comp?

I have a table there this year, first time for me. Don't know about the cutting comp though Arkansas Knifemakers Assocation hosts it, may be something on the website. If not I'll ask at Al's this Thursday.

Thanks, man. I'm going to try to go as a spectator and see if I can weasel in my JS performance test with one of the masters before, during or after the show.

The show is on the 14-15, but if you realy want to do that you should go to Al's on the 12th, the Thursday before, I know there are at least 4 MS's there every month. Jerry Fisk, Mike Wiliams, James Cook, Charles Stout, are some that come to mind. Look them up on the ABS site their address and PH# should be there. You could probably get something set up if you contacted Al and one of the MS's before then.

My son resently inherited a 3 knife set in awooden box marked Swordmakers Guild of Austria No. 30/066. The knives are approx. 10, 12, and 14 inches long total length. They are solid stainless steel, no wooden handles. they also have what looks like a PS with a slash through the S engraved on them. Would you have any idea of their value. thank you, Carol.

This looks like a certain pork based meat product to me. Another "new user' with only one post posted the same question in the custom forum.

Hey guys,
Where in Arkansas is the show? If it's on the northern side, I'd like to try and make it.

Joe are you coming all the way from Florida to go to the Arkansas Knife show? I plan on going to it. It is only about 3-4 hour drive for me, plus I have friends that have a table there this year from Georgia.

Rusty I have a question for you. Where and what is Al's and what is happening there the week before the show? :) Thanks

Riverside machine shop in De Queen, Arkansas, Uncle Al is the owner and there is a monthly meeting (2nd Thursday of each month) there for knifemakers, alot of JS and MS have come out of these meetings. I think it was started by Jerry Fisk, JR Cook, AL and Mike Williams but Im not sure. They have been meeting for quite a few years now. They have demos and some instruction on basic and advanced bladesmithing. I see you live in Longview, my wife has famialy down there in the New London/Rusk area.

I started to sign up, but had to back out. My wife is pregnat with our first kiddo and ithe show is a month before her due date. She's had a rough go of it and I'd hate to be two states away if something happened. Good luck and have fun to all those that are going.

Hello All, I will be at both. The Arkansas show is always a good one and A.G.'s this year was really nice. Joe there is not a cutting competition at the show. I would go with Rusty's suggestion and go to Uncle Al's the Thursday right before. Al has rope and I bet a 2x4 can be found. You would have a number of Mastersmiths and Journeyman there, plus you get food. Or call a mastersmith in the area and ask if you could test with them at their shop on your trip. Also bring some knives for them to look at, inspect, etc. Good luck Joe and I will see you in Little Rock.

Yeah, I may have to give John Perry a call. Uncle Al's looks like it is a pretty far drive from Little Rock.
