What hardness is this knife ?

Well, from a technical perspective, on matweb.com, A36 is listed like this:
Tensile Strength, Ultimate 400 - 550 MPa 58000 - 79800 psi

Using that data on Rockwell's scale:
http://www.onlinemetals.com/hardness.cfm

It looks like the maximum hardness, pre-forge would be Rockwell B 85, if I'm looking at the chart correctly.

anyway, the blade is completely stiff, and rigid, and does not flex whatsoever, and given that it was forged, presumably, it would be harder than if it was just cut from a bar.

I'm asking post heat treat, in the standard rockwell "C" scale.

I'm asking post heat treat, in the standard rockwell "C" scale.

As you can see by the chart, at 79,000 the Rockwell hardness is:
Rockwell B, 85

Post heat treat, not sure, I think you have to have a higher carbon content to heat treat than .260 in the first place.

Anyway, hope that helps.

no, B scale and pre heat treat hardness numbers are of little importance.

I can see where this is going SShepherd... For the love of God don't stir up trouble for me again, after all these months; I'm not in the mood. I"m sorry it didn't help, important, or not, that's the available information. "C" scale is obviously invalid for this knife; you saw the chart... and since there's no more information available... end of discussion.

it's not my fault your "not in the mood", it's a simple question that 99% of the sellers list, and a buyer wants to know. I know I did.

Arguing back and forth in a sales thread is a violation of BF rules. I am closing this as the knifemaker has opened a new thread, to give it a chance to sell without this interference.
