Armalube/Militec 1, et al....better.....or BS??

www.ar15.com has an oil maintenance section and there is a lot to read up on on gun oils. Do a search on "Falex gun oil/wear tests and you can read up on what really works best.

I don't use Militec 1 as it has absolutly not rust protection. Militec 1 claimes on it's web site it has great corrosion protection but real world test and lab test prove this to be false! I'm doing my own back yard test with polished angle iron and different oil to see what rusts 1st and Militec does indeed rust fast with a salt spray. With in 12 hours rust was forming.

So far I like:
Break Free as a do all lube
TW25B oil and grease
FP-10(still testing)
Tetra
Butches Gun oil(very thick gun oil that stays put)

Still need to to try Ballistol, Ezzox, M-Pro7 CLP and several others.

If I could only use 1 gun oil right now, it would be Breakfree because it truly is the most tested gun oil ever produced and it performs well in all conditions. In Fact My best friend is in SEAL team 5 and Break Free CLP is all he uses on his weapons! TW25B is a close second and may well be a better product but time will tell!

1 more thing on Militec 1, is it is a good lube but poor presertive. If you heat the material it is on it will bond to it better. IIRC Militec says to bake your gun at 100+ in the oven for a short time. Last time I checked I bake bread and not my firearms!!!!!!!!! I think Militec is a decent lube but there are much much better oils on the market that do so much more for your guns that are WAY easier to apply. :D

thanks for the links, Seth. Guess I'll have to get some of that stuff now....

balistol is pretty much internet only (unless you can get someone to sell it in your area/find someone who does)

Wow....after reading the info on the second URL you wonder if there's anything this stuff is not good for. Will it make you younger (or at least look younger)? Will it replace Viagra? Hard to imagine that such a miracle product was developed 100 years ago. I gotta have some of this stuff!

yes, it does pretty much everything. some guys even polish their furniture with Ballistol. It is used by hunters to remove ticks from their or the hunting dog´s skin and the stuff preserves leather, wood and metal. Ballistol works on horn too - so it is the all around lube for a khuk´s scabbard, blade and handle. I keep it away from the brass but do not know if it would stain the metal like other lubes do.
I have see a salesman spray Ballistol into his mouth :barf: to demonstrate it is not harmful - I do not think it tastes very well - but have not tried it yet. Over here pretty much every gun/knife/lawnmower/chainsaw etc. shop carries Ballistol - I use the mid-sized spray can (200 milliliters, costs about 5 Euros).
