hey guys,
I just finished a knife which you might find interesting.
as usual, I tried to merge function (thus puukko, a synonym for an efficient workhorse) with unique design (fine flow of lines, distinctive/practical details).
nature is full of stunning patterns which can be used to create a twisted piece of functional art.
this is a relatively big and heavy knife, well balanced and fast in hand.
knife is of solid construction with a tang peened over countersunk moose skullbone cylinder.
here are the details:
blade is forged by finnish smith Antti Makinen in 0.7C tool steel (comparable to 1070) and has a diamond (tommi) crossection - thickest where the grindline begins and tapers towards the edge/spine and tip.
it is tempered to about 59Hrc.
dimensions:
4.8 x 0.23 x 0.9 inches
122 x 6 x 23mm
handle is heavily sculpted in ebony (black streaked with chocolate brown) with brass bolster (textured, patinated) and deeply inlaid boxwood protrusions.
handle is 123mm (4.8inches) long.
sheath has an wooden inlay (walnut) and is sewn in 2.5mm thick vegetable tanned leather.
it is beeswax impregnated. no chemicals used.
price is 295USD shipped (payment over paypal or bank transfer in EU).
stay safe,
Mile

PS: if you're curious about the process of making, here are a few words (hehe, a few words).
