I recently picked up a small fixed blade knife made by Arno Bernard Jr. on eBay. He's a South African maker who is carrying on the knife-making tradition of his father, Arno Sr. Very nice knife--beautiful grinds, flawless fit of the scales, very nice lines. Unfortunately, the sheath had a rough edge on the inner surface of a rivet, which had scratched the handle of the knife. Before I even had a chance to contact the maker, he had emailed me to check on my satisfaction with the purchase. I explained the problem, and he has shipped out a replacement knife before even receiving the original back again. During our email exchange he was coureous and prompt in replying to my messages.
I was so happy with his obvious commitment to keeping his customers happy that I wanted to share this experience. If you've ever wanted to pick up one of his knives, it's probably a low-risk proposition. Guys like him make on-line purchasing a real pleasure.
