Around the House Knife

Of the knives you have expressed interest in I would suggest the salt. That said around my home I go with the Victorinox Explorer. I like always having some tools with me.

I have a plethora of various multitools within arms reach everywhere, but I still carry a knife. Usually one of my FRN Natives

I have a bunch of Tenacious' placed around the house and in cars. To me, they are disposable utility knives.

I rotate all my 3 inchers. I just buy shorts with pockets, though it's getting hard to find good shorts anymore. I also have a flashlight in the left pocket.

Most often it is either the Manix LW (S110V), or the Stretch (Superblue).

Love them both because of the size to weight ratio.

My top choices would be Natvie 5 or Delica. Hard to pick between these two. The Delica is slightly lighter and IMO is the better slicer, with a thinner blade profile and slightly more edge. The Native has a more refined lock and I love the way the blade drops smoothly and safely when you close it. It's shorter in closed length and also thicker. I alternate between both, but at the moment the Native 5 in S110V is the only knife I can bring myself to carry. It's light enough to disappear in any clothing. Very sturdy and substantial feeling in spite of the lightweight construction. The Delica is cheaper and there are beautiful aftermarket deep carry clips available for it. With the N5 you're limited to the excellent, but highly visible factory clip. I plan to keep both.

A few years ago I decided to give up gym shorts / sweat pants around the house because I like having all my gear on me at all times. So I wear jeans most of the year and shorts during the (short) New England Summer.

That said, I would probably go with a Dragonfly or maybe a Delica if I was inclined to wear shorts/sweatpants around the house.

When I moved into my current house, the prev owners left this cheap ass micro serrated fillet knife in the drawer. I almost threw it out when I found it. Well, it has become one of my fav knives of all time! Super pointy flexible blade unzips envelopes, boxes, zip ties, and those bomb proof heavy clear plastic casings that everything you buy these days is packaged in. You could have you finger lacerated off trying to open one of those heavy clear plastic things, but that knife, with the micro serrated edge unzips it like it wasn't even there. 5 years later it hasn't dulled one bit. I friggin love that knife! I bet you could saw concrete with that thing!

Considering the OPs attire - or lack there of - Id suggest the Spyderco ARK H1.

You dont even have to carry it in a pocket or waistband so it wont weigh down your shorts or pajama pants and its maintenance free H1.

Being winter, I've been clipping a dragonfly to my hoodie pockets or pajama pants pockets. I carry the manix 2 occasionally just to flick (same deal with a rat 2 but this is about spydercos). The dragonfly is small enough that it's really easy to forget it's in my pocket if I'm laying on the couch lounging or napping, not as much with the manix.

Native 5 would be a solid choice I think, I've considered one for the same use but decided I like the dragonfly better because I like to dual carry it in the coin pocket of my jeans with a larger primary... because I can. Most of my home cutting is opening packaging of things I've bought at stores or online so I usually don't need much knife.

BMC, I wear shorts around the house day in and day out. I actually like to take the clip off of my Endura and drop it into my pocket. It is light and easy to carry, something the PM2 is not. If I am not carrying that, I will have a Delica in my pocket and a DF in the other.
