ARRGGHH!!!! My a/c fuses keep dying.

Yes, government buildings do tend to have rats and cockroaches in them. Some even have insect and rodent infestations too. :D

Sorry, Huge, no personal reference intended. I just couldn't resist when I read your wording.

Was a pun on my name intended or simply a Freudian slip? :)

I was working for SCM Corp. as the credits and collections manager in their Washington, DC, office back in 1968 and, just after the Tet Offensive in VietNam, when the city of Hue became such a major battle for the Marines, I received a letter addressed to "Mr. Hue Fuller". I had to admit that someone had found a new pun on my name. It is a MOST uncommon happening.

It is possible that the fuse is too small. If at some point in history a former owner or maint. type replaced the fuse with the next smaller rating or even smaller, it may work for quite a while, and when it finally blows, the replacement for that is also too small... Is there any documentation stating how big the fuse is actually supposed to be, or is there a way to tell the wiring size to size the fuse safely?

There is also the possibility that someone has hacked into the A/C supply run and attached some additional equipment that overloads the fuse, and also is dangerously overloading the wiring.

Botom line, an electrician may be warrented.

Well, we changed the fuses again, this time I bought some from Lowe's (not Sears Hardware, like before) and it's up and running. I don't know how long it will last, but something tells me any future knife purchases are going to have to wait for a bit.
Oh, and my neighbor said that the fuse is plenty powerful, or something like that.
