arrived today

You really dont want that clip if its the painted black one with white lettering. It chips and looks like crap in notime.

gah... how about the h2o clip? looks to be the same shape, just in a non painted version????

i might seriously have to have a custom clip made haha

Really the only one irecommend is the matte one. Strip the one you have and polish it up with fine grit sandpaper.

I have heard good things about STR's (forum member) deep carry clips, many colours, and a reasonable price, at about 30 usd I think. I'd get a few for my knives my self, but too expensive to get it to Aus, after postage and conversion.

EDIT: if you do get custom scales, and by chance you needed to send it in to benchmade, you should be able to put the stock scales back on easily enough, without having to dissasemble the whole knife, as the 940 has full liners I think. Technically speaking, taking apart the knife voids the warranty, but I'm sure BM would reassemble it for a minimal fee.

Kershaw/ZT sent me one of those tools with a warranty request (only asked them for a clip -- ended up getting 3 clips, 2 torsion bars and that tool!)

Also, I've got probably a dozen Benchmades, including that 940 (my favorite knife btw) - and I can modify the screws in all of them with a T6 and a T9 torx -- in case you don't want to buy a whole kit :)

The grind on mine also appears to be chisel... Btw

The problem I had, is that none of the places I looked in, sold the T6 bit seperately, of course you may be lucky, but I had to buy a whole kit, which wasn't too bad, I now can screw/unscrew almost any kind of screw/bit.

Hi SpartanSaint -

Just get on STR's forum here in the makers area, he makes low-rider pocket clips and does an OUTSTANDING job. Here is a picture of the clip he made for my BM mini-grip in denim blue anodize -

Member Phillip Dobson (dobson) makes custom scales for the griptilian, and so he MAY be able to make custom scales for your knife. Email him and ask him what he can do for you.

Finally - I was able to pick up a small set of torx bits at my local Harbor Freight for $1.49 and they work just fine for most of my knife-fastener needs. They are in the little red holder in this picture -

I also have the kit from radio-shack, but I twisted one of those bits, I don't think the quality was too good on that multi-set for electronics that I bought. You really don't need a handle for knife tuning and maintenance anyway, since the torque values are not that high (or should not be...)

best regards -

This is about as good of a picture of the clip as i'll be able to get for you. Crappy but you get the idea. I'd grab my ascent and take a picture of the worn clip on that (that's where i got the idea to ask for one under warranty) but it's buried in the closet in a lockbox.

I also highly recommend STR's pocket clips. I have one for my Ti SG2 JYD and it rocks! You can have him anodize it whatever color you want to.

i'll probably just go with bead blasted and try to match the blade. thanks guys, now i gotta give plasma so i can afford it! lol
