Since I have been here I have been able to look at many pictures of everones knifes. There all interesting and unique great job by the way. How many of you make strictly knifes to collect. How many of you want people to use your knives. Now I know some would cry if they saw your knifes covered in deer blood and others would be proud.
Me myself would be insulted if someone never used my knife. To me thats like buying a gun to look at it doesn't make much sense.
everyones input is greatly appreciated thanks

I always hope that my knives are used, but alas, many of them become safe queens or wall decorations. Actually, it really doesn't matter to me whether or not one of my knives is used or not after it is gone.

All that is important to me, is that if it were to be used, it would perform the task well. If it's a hunting knife, it must perform up to what a hunting knife should perform. My knives need to hold an edge, take an edge, be tough, not brittle, be a joy to use, comfortable in the hand....and most importantly they must put a smile on the face of the person who owns one of my knives.

I like my knives to be used, none are really pretty enough yet to be stuck in a safe or case.

If I ever see this one covered in deer blood I would want the whole story about the hunt! :D

If I ever see that covered in deer blood, that better have been one mean deer with 4" fangs! I don't think that set would ever see natural light if it were mine....

And then Bruce brings out Brutus.... ;) I'd LOVE to see hunt photos of that matchlock in use, though I'm sure it'll never happen.

As for my work, as long as it's to the best of my ability, and can be trusted in use by it's owner, it's up to them what they do with it. I consider myself honored that people like what I do. As long as whoever owns it likes it, and it WOULD perform if called upon, I'm happy.

The hardest working (that is: used the most) knives in my home are my Tim Wright KITCHEN knives. When Tim visits he always offers to sharpen them and then when he looks at them he smiles and comes out with some kinda wisecrack about me remembering what he taught me about sharpening. These are mostly A2 althought the bread knife is AEB-L.

So to answer your question, I can telll you that Tim gets a HUGE kick out of people using his knives. Personally I'd like to see, and chat with, whoever carries and uses one of his $3K pearl inlaid, takedown knives. I want one one but I just can't see buying it and sticking it in a display case.............. However, the micarta handled one he made for a friend of mine 10 years ago is on its second blade. He wore the first one out, which I'm sure cracked Tim up until he realized he'd have to make a new blade for it.

Smokem if you gottem I say................
