Please note the new Performance Bowie Competition to be held Saturday afternoon. The competition is only open to table holders at the 2017 show. All knives entered in the cutting competition must have been made within the last 12 months and be available for sale or delivery at the 2017 show. The knife's maker must be present at the competition but may arrange for a substitute cutter. If you are interested in participating in the cutting contest please let us know by February 1, 2017.

The cutting competition will be held Saturday afternoon from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm during the knife show at the Wally Allen Ballroom in the Statehouse Convention Center. The competition will cost $5 to enter (materials cost). Jerry Fisk, J.R. Cook and Mike Williams have agreed to design the contest, judge the event and will act as safety officers. To show that all tests are fair, one of the judges will demonstrate each test with a knife of their making. The judges will have complete authority and may disallow a knife or competitor on any grounds. The contest will be open to the public and we hope to draw a large crowd.

Knife specifications:
Traditional Bowie profile
Maximum blade length 10"
Maximum width 2"
Maximum overall length 15"

Pinned or appropriately secured handle
Lanyard through the knife - handle, guard or blade

Man - I've got a lot of work to do in the next two weeks.

Here is an "Ancient" Bakelite (100+ years) and San-mai hunter:
