I like it. I agree it is easier to get around in. Is there going to be a place where Uncle Bill can post the pics on the proper way to draw a Kuhkuri from the scabbard?

How about some clickable pics to make the size bigger to show more detail?
Would that be a hard thing to do?
It might also be nice to put a reference size object like a 12" ruler or scale next to one lengthwise to get a better idea of size. I would also like to see an average width of blade at its widest point posted along with the OAL.
My .02ç worth.

Bill I bet that if you can find a fairly large (2+ feet diameter) tree stump and drive the first 4-6 inches of the blade in, then hook it up to a truck, it might do the trick.

I havent ordered one of your kukris yet, but I plan on getting one for my next yard knife, probably the 15 inch.

Thanks for good input, Yvsa.

And, Cliff, take a look at Yoda's idea. He may have found a solution!

Stumps will not take much strain to crack. At 2-3" (radius) you can split them just with a straight pull. At 3-4" this starts to get difficult but the wood would split long before the khukuri would warp. Depends on the type of wood though. Pine would not hold it but a denser more solid type like Black Spruce probably would.

On a serious note there are safety concerns with attempting this. It could possibly lead to a flying khukuri and I would not want to be around if that happened. First and foremost whenever you attempt anything like this always ask yourself what could go wrong and consider all possible types of actions, even the ones you don't consider very likely.

For example when ever I do prying tests I wrap the exposed blade tightly in cloth. Eye protection is great but I don't want a metal shard in the throat.

Uncle Bill, I AM NOT smart enough to be stupid so I have to ask about the description of the 1-10 on a khukri. This is my guess to prompt an expert to reply:
1.butt cap 2. ? 3. Sword of Shiva 4. spine 5.
handle 6. bolster 7. choi 8. belly 9. recurve?? 10. tip
Thanks for corrections

Hi Greg:

Think all the parts are named on the thread by the name, "name the parts."

Rusty tossed in a stumper in that thread.

Uncle Bill

Cliff I dont see how a stump could break that easily, pine maybe. I was going off my experience with an old maple stump which is only 7 inches in diameter. I could think I could break my trailmaster with that thing if I had a cheater bar. I just assumed that a 2 foot stump would do the job nicely. But Cliff that flying khukuri wouldnt be a big deal as long as there werent bystanders. The truck would accelerate too fast as soon as tension broke. Oh well, back too the drawing board.....
