Somewhere I read this from Roman Landes ...... if you double the thickness behind the edge you have FOUR time stronger edge .....:)

I couldn't find other informations about the Rockwell adaptation you quoted. Do you know if that method uses the comparator 10kg mark alone or a sensitive scale is added for repeatability? Roman's Vickers jig looks like quite reliable, but i have got just a Rockwell to play with :)

Thanks for the info I read through it once probabaly gonna need a second read for me. Not sure I understood he PM steel talk about cracking. Are you talking about tiny micro cracks in the sharpened edge/secondary bevel which can result in chipping out? CPM3V is a steel I just started to use so trying to understand it a bit better compared to say AEB-L.
