Artisan Biome

Yes, didn't completely disassemble it, just loosened the pivot screw and mid/end screw; stuck a small screw driver between the scales to widen them a bit while holding the blade tang and back spring down with a thin (but strong) chemists spatula. Bright small flashlight and magnifier googles to peak into the pivot. Then tightened all screws back down. A little tense while digging into it, but no problems with it coming apart. All is back in good working condition. I've taken apart lots of Torx screw type knives - no problems, just be very careful and methodical (but back all the pieces in the right place :). BTW, I emailed KC about their faulty description; no response yet.

Still waiting for mine from KC, 10 days after making the order, out of stock apparently and they'll notify me when it will be expected. Oh the agony of waiting. Especially as it is going to my dad in the US and then shipped to me. KC's international shipping was about double the price of the knife itself.

...and and update from KC.

Unfortunately, that item is on backorder with the manufacturer with no current available delivery date. It is beyond our control, but we will absolutely keep you notified as they become available.

Not particularly happy, I've waited 10 days and had to make a phone call just to find out that I've been wasting my time with them.

Incidentally I found this image of the knife parts. Thought it might be of interest given the above conversation.

The above image is supplied by the manufacturer, hmmm, perhaps something was lost in translation? Those washers aren't stainless steel. I hope nothing else is wrong there.

Thanks for the info.
I wondered the same thing.
The knife is so enigmatic!
Maybe the washers are 12C27N and the blade is rust proof PB.

Well, apart from the obvious mislabling of the backspring as a mere "spacer", it's also missing the stop pin that stops the blade from smacking into the backspring when closed. It's possible that the stop pin was an afterthought addition after the above image was created.

I've had mine for a few weeks now and I've been meaning to post something... But I recently moved (what a pain in the ass) and I forgot about it.

This thing is a phenomenal value! 12c27 is perfectly acceptable budget steel and is actually a bit better than a lot of the stainless steels used on traditional knives. Centering on mine is perfect. The grind is perfect (a rare thing on the knife priced this low). The G10 is very well done and overall fit & finish is excellent. The size is great. The blade is thin enough to be nice and slicey. The half-stop is a nice touch. The pull on mine is about a 4, which is my only complaint. I'd prefer a 5 or so, but at this price that's being pretty dang picky. Overall, Artisan killed it in my opinion. Excellent knife.

I picked up the Jade one from Amazon two weeks ago to replace a yellow Imperial Sodbuster JR that was giving me issues cutting with the tip. I wanted a similar build with a sharper tip and this knife gave me everything I wanted.

I absolutly love the build quality and to be honest I had to talk myself into carrying it in my pocket because this G10 scales are so nice I was afraid to scratch them. Had to remind myself that I bought it to use not show off. This one is outstanding and will be carried regularly.

Well I finally got mine, $19.95 shipped! I knew I was going to like it but when it fell into my hand as I opened the packaging it was love at first sight. This is one heck of a knife for 20 bucks. F&F are perfect, no gaps. It's small but still a comfortable and well designed 4 finger grip. It's light as heck, the blade is centered, evenly ground and came arm hair popping sharp. The grind is very bellyful which suits me down to the ground. This thing slices really really well including the dreaded apple and cardboard test whose shores are littered with TBE blades and the hollow grind phenomenon. :D The walk and talk is very smooth indeed, the half stop positive and the wider blade easier to pinch. The nail nick is ergonomically perfectly positioned for this gorilla. The steel is more than good enough for this Opinel and SAK user. Very happy with the buried lanyard loop and the screw construction. G10 is grippy and there are no hot spots. My only complaint is the rather prominent exposed rear tang but I carried the Lionsteel Roundhead for a year and it was just as bad. I'll round it off with a file if it annoys me but I doubt it. I'm also going to flitz off the logo but that's a personal thing. All in all it's a really great modern rendition of a slipjoint pocket knife. Ticking all the boxes of what makes a great slipjoint without the necessity of 'all aboard the nostalgia train'. At this kind of price, utter no brainer. It is so much more than say a Case Sodbuster Jr at the same price and I carried the Case for 6 months so it's an informed opinion.

Compared to 91mm SAK Spartan

It's not a big knife... :D (I got this Vic 12" kitchen knife in the same shipment).

Love my Biome. Sharpens up nicely. I've bad arthritis in hands so dremeled it into an easy opener - works great.
My go to knife if not carrying my Vic Tinker. Sometimes carry both; Tinker in left and Biome in right.

Any ideas of what to use in the lanyard hole? It's a very tight hole, I had wanted a leather thong through it but I'm not sure I can find one thin enough!

My mistake. Type 95 paracord. I think it is 1.8 mm. Thanks for correcting.
I'd spent all morning unsuccessfully trying to force 325 paracord in the gap and I couldn't quite work out how you were fitting 95mm paracord in there. :D
