The thing I hate about the Arvika is the stamp placement, Puts a Hollow on the center line and a flat towards the edge, Don’t think the Germans would do such a bone headed move(Sorry my Stihl bias kicking in:D) And the poor uniformity from side to side.Don’t think it will effect chopping just a visual thing. And it makes it a pain to grind Uniform. IMO:)

I am in the process now on a different one. Got the chisel filed ( primary 9 per side with rolled edge) Working on a jig to grind the wings so they come out more uniform. Don’t want to do that one too good of paper weight:rolleyes:

Moose, my assumptioin is that a "rolled edge" means that cutting edge is highly convexed, but only the very fine cutting edge...is that right?

Can’t get my mind around primary, secondary, I like to use, Rolled edge , edge angle, or were the rubber hits the road. I wouldn’t say its highly convex, Ends
up slightly convex after stoning.

Please have patience with Memphis...
He's a little slow
.
Me too,slow that is:)

Damn, I must be REALLY slow.

I found another post in the Wilderness and Survival Skills forum: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/550752-grinds-on-competition-axes

So "rolled" means "convexed????????"

Thanks, Moose.

Thanks for nothing, Bear. ;)

Same thing kind of it, could be convex or flat , competition grinds, like the banana, are one angle from edge to end of grind, thin!!works great in some wood. Add a micro bevel(secondary, rolled,) and it Strengthens the edge, also easier to repair.Tradeoff a little loss of penetration for a stronger edge, That’s easier to touch up. IMO:thumbup:Clear as mud right?
