As For The 50+ Page Thread Of Cold Steel Bashing And Speculation

I have a few Cold Steel knives, and all are excellent work knives. They serve well in rotation. I am not married to the brand, don't care about LT, nor do I feel the deep emotional response to the brand and its activities.

Musing over a cigar the other day, I have to say I believe LT is a frickin' marketing genius. ANYTHING he does is cause for comment, rumor, smut, hearsay and speculation. Who in the knife world gets as much attention to himself and his products as LT? And it's all FREE!!! Amazing...

I can't think of another knife manufacturer/contractor/subcontractor , supplier, etc., that has been able to generate so much attention (what's the count now; 500+ posts) on the thread that was based almost entirely on negative speculation and conjecture. Partly based on LT's perceived personality (don't know how many of the bitter posters postulating on his schemes actually know him, had lunch with him, or even a cup of coffee) faults, his drive to hoodwink the American public, the huge debt of gratitude he owes to someone that bought a CS product and even the sneering that he doesn't represent the knife integrity of the proper, noble, knife community they know and respect.

Seriously, if you read that thread from start to finish it started out with some info and a few concerns. Then it morphed into a multiple conspiracy theories and even included opinions that LT should not have sold CS at all, but continued on as a debt, almost an unspoken contract he was responsible for to his public. Hilarious. Then he posted (wait... was it him?) a video to help clarify the s?it storm of rampant speculation to the future of Cold Steel. That video also became part of the dialogue for those in the know working hard to uncover LT's nefarious scheme to hurt the knife buying public.

Genius, I say. I can't think of any other man and his product that has ever generated more rapid and voluminous response. I am chuckling now thinking about LT's video. What if he looked intentionally nervous and uncomfortable so he could keep the rumor mill grinding away and add another hundred posts to the thread?

I would have thought most knife buyers would have simply said "how sad, another one bites the dust" and moved on to other products which seem to be released at record rates these days. But no, LT apparently knows what he's doing a lot more than I gave him credit for.

He should make this whole thing into a Jerry Springer type show. Betcha folks would line up as guests.

and why would they not be bashed??????????????
did they produce A2 steel trailmaster, recon scout etc. in 2019?
did they produce the new style voyager gunsite they advertised?
has ANYONE had an email, telephone , facebook, instragram, bladeforum, YouTube individual response??????
There are still complaints of not getting orders for weeks.
we are approaching six months on the trailmaster 4034 advertised. anyone have one?
after YEARS and probably hundreds of sheath complaints looks like same old sheaths.
Lots were thrilled Demko was still on board, Any new work from him????
Where are the precious 3V models?
Hold your breath on when these models show up.
saying it is one thing production is another
ESPECIALLY with their history
and the continued excuse of the world ending

What a great posting... What a wonderful sanity check... Thank you...

The comments that really made me chuckle were those made by individials who were questioned about their ridiculous prognostications based on "negative speculation and conjecture" as you note. Their universal excuse boiled down to nothing more than "we are supremely experienced. You must accept our personal views." ;)

One specific issue continues to intrigue me. The outrage some voice at GSMO/CS for not having an active presence here on www.bladeforums.com. All I can say is that LCT (or whomever is really calling the shots for CS these days) sees the whole board and they do not. Your posting speaks to that fact.

I would have hoped that most learned knife buyers would have thought something along of the lines of "Ah, CS has been sold. Time to keep an even closer eye on their product quality and pricing during this transition", and that's about it.

One thing I do wonder about, after watching a few CS videos. How would the "experts" view LCT and the sale of CS if he looked like say Bill Goldberg, with no other changes?

In the end it's going to take some time, 6-12 months to see what sort of path CS ultimately takes.

Thanks again.

Amazing, simply amazing. I must be missing something, because I really don't understand why this is so controversial.

Oh look, here you are again to beat the same drum. Please try not to hurt yourself too much patting yourself on the back.

That at least this shows that Cold Steel seems to still be on a good course;as opposed to the continued cheap crap kershaw continues to introduce ,for example...

When they actually start producing knives we can judge whether they are a good course.
I think they are just following Lynn's plans for 2021, and this lineup was scheduled for production before the sale.
Next year we should get a better idea.
I am interested to see if the quality is the same on these.
The prices are going to be high from the product shortage.
Are they going to keep the Triad lock, or go to a cheaper locking system?
I wonder if they will start MAP pricing?
