As I fill my pockets, I think "I'm a knut"

This was the scene on top of my microwave this morning after I had already put one knife in my pocket. I'm but a sprout in this hobby, but I thought y'all might enjoy the visual:

P.S. The knife in my pocket was the Buck Vantage Pro that used to be in that nice yellow box. It's a winner. Between it and the Leek, I'm quite happy with my EDC choices every morning. :)

That happens. When I was about 2 years into BF, I carried 4 knives sometimes. :D

Why would anyone enjoy a picture of your cluttered kitchen?

Are those other tools going into your pockets along with the one already there? If that is the case then you might be a knut™. If not then you just need to find a better place to store your clutter.

I understand the enthusiasm in the new hobby. I enjoy a new blade as much as the next knut™.

Ask yourself what the weight of the extra blades is buying you. I carry a knife and a multi tool. Currently Mine is a Leatherman Juice S2 (like yours) and a Buck 382.

I was carrying a Benchmade Ambush but it proved a bit much for EDC.

I will never dull a blade in a day of EDC much less the two on the Buck and the one on the Juice.

Carrying that many blades may be cool but is it practical?

It really depends on what you do during the day. Lots of people are happy with one folding slip joint, others (like myself) find the need to carry two or three. All blades have a different use. I have a tough knife, a slicer, and a smaller more friendly looking one.

People like Yab carry three or more because the knives are used as part of their daily use, not just every day carry.

I know what you are saying.

I work in an office setting. I live in an urban area. My EDC works great for me.

When I am hunting, fishing, working in the yard, hiking...the number and types of blades in my pockets, on my belt, in my pack...changes.

As I get older I fnd that I like lugging around less stuff. I like tools that will do the job and I like to leave the less used stuff in the cabin or readily available in the truck, work bench...rather than in my pocket.

If you feel the need to carry that many blades then by all means. If I see you in the office with that many I will still give you grief. If I see you in the deer woods with that many I might raise an eyebrow.

Slicing and cutting can be done by most any blade. I would like to think that I could find one knife that will stand up to tough use that is also a good slicer and friendly looking to replace the three you are carrying.

I have found that "friendly looking" is hard to obtain. To those who object to knives any knife is a weapon and not a tool. I do not tailor my EDC to those folks. I tailor my EDC to the task at hand.

Noob question. . . .

But I've been looking for a knife that has a clip for my pocket or belt on the side. I work in a grocery store and have to leave quite late at nights sometimes. Right now I've got a 4.5inch buck knife.

The kind of knife im looking for is in the picture posted above, the knife to the right of the leather case. My manager at work actually had one that looked very similar, and it was assisted open. I realize that a lot of knives look alike, and that the specifications really set them apart, so sorry if I'm coming across as ignorant or anything.

I'm just looking for something not too large, but large enough, and with assisted opening of some variety. Any suggestions?

That is a fine question. You just need to narrow it down. Maybe start your own thread with your question.

The knife to the right of the Leatherman in the case is a Kershaw Leek. It's assisted-open and has a pocket clip. If you want something a bit larger, then the Kershaw Shallot is a similar design but a tad bigger. I'm not sure that carrying a knife such as this late at night offers much additional safety, but that is your call.

I do not have a picture, but can make a list.

1. Kimber 1911 on right hip.
2. Cell phone and Surefire U-2 flashlight on left hip.
3. Benchmade Rukus black blade in right front pocket.
4. Benchmade Mini Rukus satin blade in left front pocket.
5. ID holder / money clip in right front pocket.
6. North American Arms .32 Guardian in left front pocket.
7. Comb in right hip pocket.:D
8. Keys dangling off belt hoop on right hip.
9. Leatherman Black Charge TI with bit kit in ankle pouch on left ankle.
10. DMT Fine / Ultra Fine Diafold hone in same pouch as leatherman.
11. Two spare magazines for Kimber in ankle pouch on right ankle.
12. Four spare CR123 batteries for Surefire in same pouch as mags.
13. Spare Fenix single battery flashlight in same ankle pouch as above.

Gee, I think that is all! Never been a problem for me to carry this much stuff. Can put it all on, and take it all off in a few minutes. I do not feel the need to carry more than two knives since I have the DMT hone on me.

So that is two guns, two knives, two flashlights, two spare mags and a leatherman tool every day. Piece of cake.

And all anyone sees is the clips for the knives, the keys, and the combo holder with phone and light. Everything else is concealed. Last time I got stopped for speeding (and I only got a warning:D), as per the law I told the officer I was armed. He asked what and where, so I proceeded to tell him. By the time I was done, he said nothing just raised an eyebrow, and gave me a written warning for 72 in a 60.;)

That's not so bad. That's probably about normal for a lot of guys here. Today I have on me:

Spyderco Bug
Spyderco Ladybug
Vic MiniChamp
Chris Reeve Small Sebenza

in my pack:
Glock 19
RAT Izula
RAT RC4
Vic Champ
Leatherman Wave
Busse Gamewarden
I think there's a Buck Hartsook in there someplace. I can never find it though. The thing just sorta disappears.

I remember those days of carrying multiple knives. Used to have three or four on me at one point in time. Nowadays, it's been reduced down to either a traditional pattern and a one-hand opener, or just an SAK. Gives me the chance to have multiple blades while reducing weight.

Dang. You's one heavily armed cat. Remind me not to mess with you. I usually don't bother with the spare magazines myself, though I know I probably should. I just can't imagine a scenario where I'd need more than 15 rounds of 125 grain, +P+, 9mm hollowpoints.

Welcome to one more obsession that you didn't need:)

I personally don't like full pockets but I hate not EDCing. Every once in a while I'll carry more than one knife, but that's pretty rare. I don't even like keeping my flashlight on me and you carry a whole bulb;). That's a fine EDC setup you have there

The Ti blade Emerson is a great IWB knife and also gets a lot of swimming time.

Just out of curiosity, you ever EDC that double-edged waved Spyderco Police?
