As I fill my pockets, I think "I'm a knut"

:D

I rarely dip anymore so I don't mind the cheap stuff. I think I carried the double edged Police once, but it's really not a practical carry knife unless you're planning on trouble.

If you feel the need to carry that many blades then by all means. If I see you in the office with that many I will still give you grief. If I see you in the deer woods with that many I might raise an eyebrow.

Slicing and cutting can be done by most any blade. I would like to think that I could find one knife that will stand up to tough use that is also a good slicer and friendly looking to replace the three you are carrying.

I have found that "friendly looking" is hard to obtain. To those who object to knives any knife is a weapon and not a tool. I do not tailor my EDC to those folks. I tailor my EDC to the task at hand.

If you noticed that is. :) Front right pocket, rear right pocket, one around the neck sometimes, one in the left pocket or watch pocket. It's a simple setup that works fine for me. I prefer to not compromise the knives intended philosophy of use and carry several. One knife that "does it all" is like a combo edge knife. It tries to be everything but ends up not doing anything well. I found that the best knife would be the Military for overall all around excellence.

You can't replace a Manix 2, Military, and Ladybug with one single knife. It's not possible to have a knife that is a great beater and tough as nails while still being an exceptional 4" slicer, while staying under 3" closed in pocket with bright yellow FRN (I'd take G-10 too) scales and being 100% rustproof. Not till they come out my dream (FFG H1) Military.

I don't tailor my EDC to sheeple. I recognize that it's easier to carry another knife then to spend the time educating them.

I remembered that I'm a knut today when a customers shipping cost was "10.95" and I thought "Heh, 1095."

That's okay. My workplace uses F&F to describe something, and for the life of me, I can't think of anything else but fit & finish.

I continually get reminded that I'm a knut because anytime something needs to be cut, everyone just stares at me.

This was the scene on top of my microwave this morning after I had already put one knife in my pocket. I'm but a sprout in this hobby, but I thought y'all might enjoy the visual:

P.S. The knife in my pocket was the Buck Vantage Pro that used to be in that nice yellow box. It's a winner. Between it and the Leek, I'm quite happy with my EDC choices every morning. :)

which Juice model is that?

.........Ask yourself what the weight of the extra blades is buying you. I carry a knife and a multi tool. Currently Mine is a Leatherman Juice S2 (like yours) and a Buck 382..............Carrying that many blades may be cool but is it practical?

Carrying that many blades buys you a good time, I like to use all my knives and try something new out pretty much all the time. I enjoy having a choice when I go to do a task.

As far as it being practical, you should use the right tool for the job. I don't want to open up a package 5" folder or slice an apple with a slipjoint.....More knives=more options.

Dang. You's one heavily armed cat. Remind me not to mess with you. I usually don't bother with the spare magazines myself, though I know I probably should. I just can't imagine a scenario where I'd need more than 15 rounds of 125 grain, +P+, 9mm hollowpoints.

That is why I keep the spare magazines in an ankle pouch. I have them on me, but they are way out of my mind down there. For sure I would hope there never comes a day when I would need even the eight that are in the gun, let alone the extra 14 down there. But if you are a reader of gun magazines, some civilians have had bad days.

I do not have it in front of me, but in the last issue of American Handgunner, Massad Ayoob did a story of a former military guy, now civilian, who got in a bad situation with a three of four bad guys. He ended up having to drop an empty, stick in a full. Anyways, long story short, he shot both mags empty, and every round hit the targets. Absolutely amazing story, and serves to show that extraordinary events do in fact happen.

Heres hoping it does not happen to anyone here, anytime soon. But with the economy the way it is, and expected to get worse, WTF knows? Just be prepared.

Here are links to ankle pouchs I use.
Ankle magazine holder.

Generic ankle pouch.
