Model 26 Medium Hunter

I took the blade from the model 12 and added 3/16" to it and then used the handle from the model 25. This is a very handy size medium hunter. It would be comfortable for every day carry.

Blade: 3 1/2" tip of blade to end of handle scales, D2 Tool Steel @ 61 Rc, Hand rubbed satin finish, thumb grooves on top
OAL: 7 11/16" (small variations per knife)
Scales: Desert Ironwood, Stabilized Gold Maple Burl, Stabilized Black Walnut Burl, black liners, ss screws, ss lanyard hole liner, rawhide lanyard with whitetail antler slider
Sheath: Tooled cowhide leather

Price each: $185.00 includes shipping by USPS Priority Mail to US

I accept checks, money orders and Paypal. No fee to paypal users.

David:
I would like to purchase the Maple Burl knife., if still available. Email sent.
My Email: spectrumATmoscow.com

Spectrum, You got a great knife. David made one for me recently and I think it may be the best EDC I own. It's not quite as handy as a caper as the model 12 but it seems to do all things well. I'm very well pleased with mine.

I just got an email notification from David and this one is heading to Idaho. I just found out about this forum and I am very impressed by the skill the custom knifemakers have and the willingness of the members to share their knowledge and experience. I also frequent a couple of firearm forums and there's a lot of good knowledge posted on those forums, too.
I envy the talent, both artistic and technical required to make custom knives, gunstocks, pistol grips and holsters. I feel it is important, if possible, to support those who have those skills. I wish I could afford to buy more.

Too bad! Well, David is a very prolific maker and it won't take him long to get you one! He got mine to me in 2 weeks after conception-it was a new idea.
In talking to him he said "I just can't wait to get up every morning and get into my shop".

I second that.

Collecting and using handmade knives has become a favourite hobby of mine. It is very important to me that these knifemakers keep on forging and grinding. I too wish that I could afford to buy more. Even if I were a millionaire, I think I would still wish that I could afford to buy more.

I think the best part about it is that when you have something handmade, especially if you had to wait a long time to get it, it just feels different knowing that it's the only knife in the world really like that and that somebody put a lot of time and love into it.

One nice thing about owning a chest full of knives is you can carry different one every day and appreciate what the maker wrought.

I wasn't too clear in my previous post but I have a money order in the mail to David for the Maple Burl Handle Medium Hunter. I wish I could've bought all three. I had no internet access or electricity yesterday so I called David and told him I had sent a money order. He said he strives hard to keep his knives affordable, and that he had been making knives for 33 years. I am glad that this site gives such makers a wide venue to display their handiwork.
I know a guy who's got several thousand dollars tied up in "fantasy knives", they're glitzy but most are of questionable quality and most are also absolutely useless as knives. He likes them, and that is all that matters, and I never say anything negative about them. The custom knives on this site all seem eminently purposeful and are truly elegant.

Your taste and mine run similarly. I have no time for "fantasy knives" or collector editions. I lean to users and rather traditional designs.

David:
I just took delivery of the maple burl medium hunter and I am as pleased as I can be with this knife. Outstanding workmanship on the knife and the sheath!
It fits my hand perfectly and the balance is excellent. Your 33 years of knife-making experience are evident in every detail. Thank you!
