As promised

It didn't post like I wanted it to but you can still get to it so, all's well that ends well.

My kit may seem a bit incomplete but there's also a few other items like a gore-tex jacket, a mess kit/canteen, and, owing to my wife's issues, a separate medical kit that requires a pack mule to haul. I keep a tent, sleeping bag and other stuff in the trunk. This is just the kit that I take when I go on my little rambling woodswalks.

hey taskforce what is the item "black box" beside the gps? & the little silver item at the butt end of your folding knife? one more silly question next to the fixed blade(what brand?)is that a burnt cork ? thanks nice little kit ,I like to see pistols,I carry a .22 cal. as well.:)

Not silly questions at all. The Black Box is a Blackie Collins sharpener...not the greatest sharpener in the world but it puts a wicked edge on my hatchet and a decent utility edge on everything else. The little silver item is a Quick release keychain attachment that ordinarily attaches to a braided 550 cord lanyard (used it to stake tomatoes...have to replace that). The fixed blade is a Fallkniven F1 in a Survival Sheath Systems Kydex sheath.

I've had better luck than most with that NAA Mini-Master...but I practice with it a lot. The box actually contains a couple different types of ammo before anybody rips on me for only carrying Super Colibri.

Yep, that's a burnt cork. I figure to use it for a fishing float in conjunction with the fishing kit in the pill bottle or as a camouflage/ face paint (sorry...seems hokey...ex-military), I've actually found that applying it all over keeps mosquitoes away.

I just realized how suture heavy this kit appears. Aside from the fact that there are several different types of suture there (absorbable, non-absorbable, cutting, non-cutting) for different purposes, the stuff comes in handy for repairs of the non-medical variety (sewing a torn backpack or pants)

:) thanks for the answers , I have a high standard 9 shot revoler with a 6" barrel and I carry CCI stinger ammo with me,gun is tough as nails,it has been through alot and still reliable as ever, no flashlight in the kit? thanks again

I keep a small LED light on my keychain and a larger one in the trunk but have never really needed a flashlight in the woods (poor day vision...great night vision). Should put one in the kit...maybe the night vision's not as good as I think.

I keep mine stoked with Stingers, too. Have considered including .22 mag in the kit but am paranoid about losing the extra cylinder.

I could see packing either the lr or mag cylinder but not both weight issues, the extra cylinder + magnum ammo with 22 lr ammo + cylinder but then the weight on your mind of losing either one is heavier than the actual weight of carrying :D :D magnum has more knock down power but it is alot louder as well, 22 LR is perfect for me to take game or whatever.

Plus, I've got the Stingers to hit to point of aim (remarkably well actually) and don't want to have to fool around with changing the sights for the magnums. I'll get around to it someday...maybe this weekend.

Hey task force,Is that a wenger mountainer in the pic? I've thought about gettin one, what do you think of it?
Thanks,
Loto

Nope...Wenger Century w/ woodsaw. Initially, I was a bit disappointed in the fit and finish, as compared to Victorinox. Functionally, it's fine though I think the Vickies I've owned have gotten sharper and kept it longer. I wouldn't put it in the kit if I didn't feel like I could depend upon it but if Victorinox comes out with something almost identical...it will be replaced.

Thanks for the information task force, Im a vic fan my self, but always liked the looks of the mountainer and century.

I have a few wengers as well and the main differencve to me is the quality of the steel and the strenth of the springs.

Nice looking kit.
